I'd like to continue my effort to eaualize law enforcement in the ' county, realizing that each individual, no matter where he lives, is entitled to the protection and service of the sheriffs office. Demands of my office have not allowed me the time to knock on every door in the county and speak to each voter individually. in-dividually. I stand firm on my record of the past 11 months. Your vote for me, Don Mosier, on Tuesday will continue the teamwork we've had these past months. Donald L. Mosier y L II"" ii I ..jhwm'T'! Sam E. Henrie Jr School Board Precinct No. 2 Thank You Lowell V. Henrie Jr. H. Dell LeFevre The preceding four years as County Commissioner have been a tremendous growth and educational experience. I have realized that it takes a lot of time to stay on top of the many issues facing our county. I am willing to continue, in your interest in-terest If you will let me. I have supported industrial in-dustrial and business development so that the county would have another revenue source rather man increasing taxes. I have kept my commitment to provide better communication and representation between the citizens and the county commission. The fact that I live on the outskirts of the county has helped me represent all the areas of the county. I am concerned about having the federal government swallow us up in land battles. I am personally working to maintain our county's rights. I know the bureaucrats who are leading the preservation and wilderness "song and dance" in mis state. We must thwart their efforts and be prepared for a long battle. Recently, we have resisted the federal government's grazing management plans, the wild and acenic river regulations, the coal mining petitions, and reduced the large area that was designated as wilderness area. I am prepared to continue this fights. I want to see a clean environment along with industrial development to Don L. Mosier Keeping Garfield County safe, respectable, and free of crime is the challenge faced by its sheriff. It's been my opportunity to face that challenge since last October when I was selected by Garifeld County Commissioners to fill the unexpired term of Keith Fackrell. I feel proud of progress made in law enforcement in the county in those brief 11 months. Statistics of my department testify we have achieved 267 percent of the national average for completion of cases, a record that speaks for itself. My first goal was a county-wide effort to educate the public to the perils of drug abuse. I've been grateful to schools and organizations which, recognizing the need, provided the forum for me to speak to parents and youth about this threat. I've been impressed by the efforts of local buisnesses to combat shoplifting; I've appreciated ap-preciated the opportunity to speak to their organizations. Dedicated service by my deputies and earnest cooperation by other law enforcement officers in the county have contributed con-tributed to the success which we have achieved. . These programs have gained momentum; others are waiting to startt. I'd like the chance to follw through, to see Garfield County safe, Don L. Ipson, Jr. My name is Don L. Ipson, Jr., I was bom, reared and had my primary education, here in Garfield County. I am seeking the post of school baord representative of the 2nd district in Garfield Gar-field County. Listed below are a few of the many reasons I have decided to seek this office. With the anticipated growth in the Garfield County area, the expansion ex-pansion of the school system will require very careful planning by our school officials; to estab'ish an adequate, but economical growth in our school system, the experience I have had in governmental accounting, ac-counting, municipal finance and- bonding would be very valuable to the planning and growth. One of the most important im-portant concerns of all parents is for our children to have the opportunity of a quality education. As a father of four boys in this school district I believe there should be more emphasis placed on the basics of education; thereby laying a solid foundation for future life. All eligibility for school activities should be based on an established standard stan-dard for both scholastic and physical training. And all standards should be the same for any activity ac-tivity for either boys or girls. I have no particular Alma D. Fletcher Before deciding to run for County Commissioner I gave condiderable thought to what was happening, and what I thought should happen in this county. I decided the best thing I could do was to put my thinking along with those who have encouraged my candidacy; can-didacy; TO WORK, BY GETTING INVOLVED. I think it is time that the commission report directly to the people, and keep the people informed as to what is happening, and also keep the commission com-mission informed as to what the citizens of Garfield county want to happen in their county. I feel we should have the courage and the initative to determine more of our own desitiny . We must work together towards the improving of the economic conditions in our county. I was born and raised in Garfield county; therefore, I know of the advantages we now have, and also the disadvantages disadvan-tages in which we need to overcome. You have not seen nor heard much from me up until now because I have been busy arranging my domestic and business conditions so that I might be prepared to serve Garfield County should you see fit to give me your trust September 9th. AlmaD. Fletche: Harold Carl Hatch With four years past experience serving on the Garfield County School Board, I feel that I have demonstrated my interest in-terest in providing the best schools possible in our district As a lifetime resident of Garfield County, I feel that I know the people of the county, their problems, the way they feel about education and the types of programs they want and need for their children. During my previous term on the school board I actively supported music and drama programs which I believed are important to a well rounded lifestyle. I feel that the vocational aspect of education should be stressed and opportunities op-portunities provided for students in vocational education. I believe in being fair to the students as well as the teachers and administrators. ad-ministrators. In making decisions I try to be sensitive to the needs of the people and do not believe. in snap judgments or quick decisions where the future education of our children is concerned. You know me as Carl, but on the ballot I'll be listed as Harold C. Hatch. Carl Hatch Guy W. Thompson Garfield County is I place of great scenic beauth and also an ares where people show genuine concern for one another. This is the prime reason why I chose tc raise my family here. My number one ot jective as your Com mission er will be th promotion of more yeai round jobs through development of out natural resources. Such development will do much to help solve the nation's energy problems. I support the immediate and orderly development of these resources so that the beauty of the area will be preserved, at the same time allowing the resources to be fully utilized. I believe that the longer this is delayed and the more urgent America's energy needs become, emphasis will be placed on immediate energy acquisition with little regard for the land or people already in the area. This will greatly lessen our chances for orderly development and increase the negative impact. Resource development will not only provide badly needed year-round employment, but will provide a broader tax base to carry the cost of schools, roads, law enforcement, en-forcement, and other A -; VJ "7 I Marilyn M. Erickson The . youth in our communities have much potential that should be developed through our schools. We need programs that challenge minds and spark creativity. Working with the students and programs I have participated par-ticipated in have given me extra insight into education and the needs of the students. Our county has a need for stronger academics and more cultural arts. I would focus special attention at-tention toward these goals which I feel can further the progress and development .of our schools Marilyn M. Erickson necessary services. It will also bring new families to bolster our faltering school enrollment. If elected, I will do everything possible to improve roads . throughout the County. Public lands should be just what the name impliespublic. im-pliespublic. I fully support local use of such lands with fewere restrictions. Guy Thompson grievance with, or any obligation to any teacher or school official; I am seeking this position because I am willing to use my background, qualifications and interest in-terest to help our children get the best possible education. I will do my best to support a standard of excellence in our schools and in our teachers. I will do my best to represent the views of tht citizens in my district and their viewpoint is always welcome. Don L. Ipson, Jr. Candidate for Garfield County School Board District two |
