Show Chidester to Head BYU Hawaii Athletic Dept. LA IE, Hawaii Ted Chidester, head basketball coach at Brigham Young University Hawaii Campus, has taken on the additional assignment as the school's athletic director, replacing Dr. Norman Kaluhiokalani. Chidester, a Panguitch native, became the basketball coach at BYU Hawaii one year ago after serving in the same capacity at Northern Montana Mon-tana College for two years. Perviously, he had been athletic director and basketball coach at North Summit High School in Coalville, Utah, for 12 years and assistant to Bobby Knight at In diana University in Bloomington, Ind., for one year. Chidester graduated from Panguitch high in 1954 and attended College of Southern Utah in Cedar City for two years before joining the Air Force. He served as a personnel specialist during his four years in the service, after which he earned a bachelor's degree in physical educaiton at Utah State University in 1962. He received a master's degree from Indiana in 1976. He and his wife Shirley reside in Laie and have five children. Twenty-six year old Roberto Her-rera Her-rera was believed to have been killed on impact when this 1974 VW Beatle left the road, rolling end over end, and struck a telephone pole in the early morning hours just south of Hatch on Tuesday. His passenger, Karen Arnett, 24 remains under observation at Garfield Memorial; both occupants of the vehicle were students headed back to BYU in Provo for the fall term. |
