Show New Business Breaks Ground At Lake PANGUITCH LAKE "We honeymooned here at Panguitch Lake and bought the first painting Nedra Tebbs ever sold commercially," stated William Herder, developer of the newest business to be established at the lake in over 15 years. Herder reminisced about all the old times at the lake last week to invited friends and ' business associates who f, were in attendance for" the official groundbreaking ground-breaking ceremony of his new business which will include a general store, service- station and laundry. The facility will be located just east of the Panguitch Lake Forest Service offices across Panguitch Lake road. It will be situated on 1.25 acres and encompass some 3,000 square feet in the ground level store area and approximately 2,000 square feet additionally ad-ditionally in a loft area overlooking the main floor. Herder plans to stock a fairly extensive line of grocery items along with an ice and propane service, some sporting goods and camping equipment. Construction of the Rocky Mountain Log Style building (designed in Montana) began this week with C. M. Smith. Smih, owner of Recreational Home Builders, Inc., a Panguitch based business, hopes to have the basic structure roughed in about three months. Among guests invited to the official groundbreaking ground-breaking ceremony were two of the very earliest business people established at the lake, Martha and Ron Early. The Early's began operating Beaver Dam Lodge approximately 1949 and Herder can recall some of his family's very first visits in 1953. The Early's ran Beaver "Dam Lodge for thirty years, only selling out mis past season. It was noted at the dedication and groundbreaking ground-breaking that although several lakeside businesses has remodeled or added to their businesses, this is actually ac-tually the first "new construction" to be undertaken un-dertaken at the lake in quite some time. Herder is optimistic about having the new facility open in time for Utah deer hunt and will most likely manage the business himself at the outset. Herder was joined in the official groundbreaking ground-breaking rites by son Williams and daughter, Katie; wife Mureen remained behind in California. Others invited for the important occasion oc-casion were Ron and Martha Early, C. M. Smith, Garfield County Commissioner George Middleton, Jim Yardley representing Yardley Insurance, Wayne Holman representing Bryce Canyon Petroleum, Bruce Fullmer representing the Panguitch Chamber of Commerce, John Yardley also of Yardley Insurance and John Seaman, Zions First National Bank manager. |
