Show EHS Places First At Region Toumy In Cross Country ESCALANTE Five Esca-lante Esca-lante High School students advanced ad-vanced to the state round of cross country competition after taking the Region 15 Cross Country tournament tourna-ment last Wednesday. Also competing were Valley High School, taking second place; Piute High school, who took third and Milford, taking fourth. Individuals from EHS who took top ten spots were Seth Steed, first place; Jacob Heaton, second place; Scott Beebe, sixth place; Justin Christensen, ninth place; and James Crawford, tenth. In addition to the top four teams in the region, individuals placing in the top 10 also qualify for state, even though their team may not have qualified. Levi LeFevre, Bryce Valley High School, finished fifth and will also go to state as well. Others from Escalante who competed and did very well were Josh Bacon, Devin Shakespear, Lucas Schulkoski, Mike Spencer, Kade Coombs, and Glen Eastman. St. Joseph's High School is a favorite going into the state tournament, tour-nament, which was held Wednesday, Wednes-day, Oct. 18 at Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City. Escalante and Dugway are close behind. Escalante fans virtually shut down the town Wednesday as many left to cheer on their favorite runners run-ners at the state tournament. The team thanks their many fans and their support and coach Monte Marshall Mar-shall says that the state tournament will be a great success, despite the outcome. |
