Show By Mamie Talbot 676-8084' Local Boy Scouts had two days of winter camp on Jan 28-29. Nature Na-ture cooperated by putting down snow to make it more like a winter camp instead of spring camp. Many of the women are gathering gather-ing in homes to make quilts, a favorite fa-vorite winter pastime. Some of the quilts are being made for their own families and some are for the Care Center and hospital, especially crib and lap quilts. There have been several Pan-guitch-connected deaths recently. Wallace and Billie Miller and daughter, Shirley Chidester, went to Kanab for the funeral of a dear friend, Ramona Johnson. She was the wife of the late Merrill Johnson, John-son, who was one of our early Utah Highway Patrol troopers. He served at the same time as Monte Luke of Junction, who was also one of the first Utah Highway Patrol Pa-trol officers. Karen Ross's mother, Ruby Buchanan, passed away in the Salt Lake area recently. Karen and Wayne had just been there to check on her and she was to go into a care center but died the day before. Our love and sympathy go to the fam-ily. fam-ily. JoAnn Jones and son Dillon Jones spent a few days with mom Alta Orton, helping her with household jobs. While here they all went to Tropic to visit with the Wally Ortons and to the Georgetown George-town Cemetery for the funeral of Panguitch native Dot Hughes Man-gum. Man-gum. Dot was the wife of the late Nile Mangum. They lived in Elsi-nore. Elsi-nore. Dot's brothers here are Bill and Joe Hughes. Bill was not able to attend the funeral as he had been visiting with family members in Salina and had a heart attack. He is recuperating. Our condolences go to the Hughes and Mangum families. fami-lies. Kenny and Paula Orton went to Edmund, Okla., to see the new baby boy born to Ryan and Terrie Orton. Other family members going go-ing on the trip were Sonny and Matthew Orton and friend Kenny Tebbs, Shana and Avery LeFevre and Alicia Hatch. All of Kenny's family were together for four days. What a joyous get-together! In the Panguitch LDS 4th Ward sacrament meeting, Leola and Terry Henrie were released from their positions po-sitions in the Sunday school and as teacher development leader. The members of the Brian and Jennifer Jen-nifer Bremner family were the speakers. Sydney Houston gave a special musical number. Our love goes to Fay Alvey's' family at her death. It was good , knowing her. In the Panguitch LDS 2nd Wand sacrament meeting, Jane Excell was released as assistant achievement day specialist. Marianne Orton was sustained as Young Womens achievement specialist. Tammy H. Houston sang a beautiful song. Dahlin Jordan spoke and sang. Julie Ju-lie Jordan spoke and David Jordan played a piano solo and spoke. The Jordans live in the little brick house between Jill Chidester and Vema Owens. Visiting grandmother Merle Stowell were Sean and Jenny Stow-ell Stow-ell and young son Caleb from' Brigham Young University in Provo. Panguitch native Bruce Norton and wife Val stopped in to visit with his aunt Mamie Talbot for an hour. They live in Provo. He is the son of Dora and the late V Norton. Nor-ton. It was Val's first visit to southern Utah and they were touring tour-ing Bruce's beautiful home country. Neucile Yardley let us know about the death of Ruth Tebbs But-terfield But-terfield in Salt Lake City. Her funeral fu-neral was on Jan. 27. She was 80 years old. Both Ruth and her husband hus-band Valoy were ill for some time. Ruth's parents were Burns and Ruth Tebbs. They owned the house on Main Street that is now the Snowed-in Quilt Shop. Our love goes to the Tebbs and Butterfield families. Leland and Donna Marshall have . moved to Escalante where their children live. Leland is quite ill and the girls can help with his care. The family of Cleo Clark held an 84th birthday party for her. In attendance from Panguitch were Marion and Louise Burgess, George and Vickie Whiting and daughter Krystal, Denise Crandal, great-granddaughter great-granddaughter Darcy Hall, great-grandson great-grandson Wesley Hall, the Terry Clarks, and Pam's son Andrew Hatch. From West Valley City came Jim and Maxine Clark; from Stockton, Drew and Lela Anderson; from Mayfield, Gary and Cleola El-lis; El-lis; from Cedar City, Art and Margaret Mar-garet Clark and children Ryan and Nica; and from Washington, Victor and Pam Curtis and daughters Rosy and April. |
