Sustained as Sunday School president was Shawn Mortensen, Stan Mecham as first counselor, ' Steve Pollock as second counselor and Andrew Monroe as secretary. Gloria Hayden and Anne Marie Johnson always keep busy. They spend time each week at the Garfield Gar-field Care Center bringing fresh fruit and visiting with the patients. They spent several nights in Cedar City with Gloria's sister, Janet Le-Fevre. Le-Fevre. Gloria also attended Fay Alvey's funeral in Escalante. Heather Ott and Bryan Haight will be married in the St. George LDS Temple on Friday, Feb. 4. Lowell and Margaret Mecham spent several days in Salt Lake City staying with Margaret's mother, Melva Redford. They both attended a phone company dinner meeting with the Utah State Legislature. They also spent a night with son, Steve Mecham and family before returning re-turning home. Minnie Neilson's nephew, Ron McGee and family of Roy, brought her home after nearly a month-long stay with them. Minnie is recovering recover-ing from surgery and is most happy to be home and do her recuperating here. Luana Riddle recently underwent knee surgery in Cedar City. She is now home and going through a painful recovery. Husband, Ben, has had help taking care of her from daughter, Cheri Feltner and family. Son, Mike Riddle has also come from Phoenix and been here for a week to help out. Todd and Jennifer Feltner and children Parker and Paris were here to visit LaMar and Cheri Feltner and family overnight. They always have to travel at night so Paris isn't exposed to sunlight. But she is a happy and active child who will celebrate her second birthday on Feb. 12. Cheyenne Syrett, who celebrated her eighth birthday, Jan 25 was baptized into the LDS church on Saturday. Her parents are Bryce and Cherish Syrett and her father bap-. tized and'confirmed her a member.' , There were lots of relatives from . the Syrett family and the Tebbs . family for the special event. Arthur and Vicki Syrett recently ' enjoyed a' 16-day "Millenium Cruise." Vicki' s brother and sister- , in-law, 'Lance and Sue Walton of Titusville, Fla., joined them on the cruise. They sailed from Miami, stopped in Aruba; Cartagena, Co- ' lumbia; San Blase Islands; the Panama Pan-ama Carial; Limon, Costa Rica; , Ochorios, Jamaica; Cozumel, Mex- , ico and, back to Miami. They had a -wonderful' time and Vicki brought back lots of information on they places they visited. She shared this ' with her '4th grade class and told them' about the islands and coun- : tries that 'they saw. Not only a great experience for Arthur and Vicki but a living history and geography geog-raphy lesson for her class. Ferrell ' and Gwen Brinkerhoff and family were at the St. George Airport on Tuesday to meet their son, Cody who returned from the Brazil Belo Horizante LDS mission. mis-sion. There was a large crowd of Brinkerhoffs and Jacksons there to welcome Cody home including Grandmother Ora Brinkerhoff. Jack Chynoweth collapsed in church on Sunday, while taking part in a lesson. He was given CPR and the EMT's rushed him to Garfield Memorial Hospital where he was stabilized and then taken by Life Flight to LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. LDS Sacrament meeting meet-ing was canceled after the sacrament was passed and members were asked to pray for Jack and also Louis Haas, who has returned to Garfield Memorial Hospital . |
