Show Cannonvilla I lews By Marva Fletcher. 679-8521 Highlighting the news for the week was the LDS missionary fare- well testimonial for Elder. Lloyd Mathews, son of Ben and- Diane Mathews. Once again the .chapel was packed with every available seat taken.. Some were sitting in classrooms and the Relief Society room, in the foyer and in hallways. Family members included all of his family as well as Clifford, Collette and Chris Mathews of Henrieville; David and Andrea Mathews- and children Mike and Misty, Joey, and Alona Mathews, all of St. George; Darren and Stacy Mathews of Panguitch, Pan-guitch, Derek and Shaleen Mathews and all of their local family members. mem-bers. Also present were Lloyd's wrestling buddies from Panguitch whom he may have pinned or been pinned by in wrestling matches and many friends and relatives from neighboring towns. Talks were given by Trevor, David and Lane (See CANNONVILLE on page 6A) CANNONVILLE From Page 2-A Mathews, followed by a vocal solo by Ann Neilson. Then both of his parents spoke, followed by Lloyd. He is missionary number seven now in the field from Cannonville Ward with less than 200 members, and two more are preparing to go in the spring. Local folk are all very proud of these fine young men. On Wednesday, Lloyd's parents took him to the Missionary Training Center in Provo to prepare for his mission to Omaha, Neb. Desmond and Gretha Twitchell went to Richfield on Tuesday and visited Gretha' s sister, Nelda Willis at the care center there. They are on vacation from their LDS temple calling for a couple of weeks while the temple is closed. Joe and Rae Hughes went to Richfield . Saturday to attend the funeral for Joe's sister Dot Mangum. She was later brought here to be buried in the Georgetown cemetery. Don Mangum also attended the funeral, as she was his niece. Bob and Mira Loy Ott spent two days in St. George to represent Garfield and Kane counties at the State Farm Agency convention. Bryce Fletcher went to Washington, Wash-ington, Utah to work. He is staying stay-ing with his brother Leon Fletcher. They came back to spend time with Bishop Larry and Glenna Fletcher. Bonnie Willis had a visit from her grandson, Richard Willis of Monroe. He did extensive work in her bathrooms to repair damage caused by a leaking pipe. Bill Nelson underwent knee surgery sur-gery recently. Bonnie said he is in a lot of pain, but she thinks it is healing okay. Helen Sawyer and daughter, Macie of Panguitch spent a day here visiting their mother and grandmother, grand-mother, Wilma Dutton. |
