Glen And Rose Tingey Glen Tingey was a former, very active resident of Panguitch working work-ing at the time as county supervisor for Garfield and Kane counties with the Farmers Home Administration office, now titled the Farm Service Agency. He was extremely civic minded and served for several years as Panguitch Chamber of Commerce Com-merce president before being transferred trans-ferred to Delta. LOGAN Glen says "howdy gang" and also thought it "quite an honor to be connected with this new column in the Garfield County News." When he left Panguitch in the early 1980j'and was transferred to Delta, he decided to live in Hinckley. Hinck-ley. While there he didn't get as heavily involved in community groups and events like his time in Panguitch, but he did decide to join the Lions Club and was their vice-president vice-president for a time. He also judged rodeo queen contests and announced the Lions rodeo for four years. Interested In-terested as ever in the outdoors, he purchased a couple of horses and became friends with a rancher who rode the desert with him quite often to look for stray cows The two even chased wild horses for fun once in awhile. He lived there only two years before being transferred to Vernal and with no place to keep horses he was forced to sell his. Tingey writes that the best thing to happen in Vernal "was finding my current wife, Rose." A friend since their college days together, to-gether, her brother had tried to line them up for a few years, but neither had been excited about marriage again. When they did finally run into each other, "things seemed to click," says Tingey and we were married in 1985. In 1986 they were transferred to Logan and have been there ever since. He is presently a farm loans manager with the Farm Service Agency there and serves Cache, Rich and Summit counties so he gets to travel quite a bit. He is however, looking forward to retirement, retire-ment, which is set for, Mar. 25, 2000, after 33 12 years of government govern-ment work. He hopes then to find something to do that will give him the flexibility in schedule he desires but still stay busy. He has also worked for Corral West Ranchwear.-- for four years part time and realizes . that may be something he can continue con-tinue after retirement. As for his commitment to family fam-ily and community while in Logan, you name it, it sounds like he's done it. Now that's the Tingey we all knew and loved. He and Rose have worked with Justin Boots the past 1 1 years, helping with the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas every year but had to give that up. He is in his seventh year as president of the rodeo ro-deo committee there in Logan. He is also secretary of the Wilderness Wil-derness Circuit for the PRCA, past president of the Utah Rodeo Committees Com-mittees Association and on the advisory ad-visory committee for the Bridger-land Bridger-land Applied Technology Center (BATC). . As for his LDS church involvement, in-volvement, he noted that he and Rose went through the temple two (See TINGEY on page 3-A) TINGEY From Page 2-A years after they were married and that he has served as financial clerk for 1 1 years, as primary teacher and currently is activity director in their ward. Wife, Rose was born in Grouse Creek, Utah and reared in the state of Washington. She currently works as a manager of the employee em-ployee lunch room for Gossners Cheese and likes to do ceramics and about anything that has to do with crafts. He reports that his three daughters daugh-ters from his first marriage live fairly close; Kathy lives in Murray and is a manager of a fast food chain who has never married. Julie lives in Bountiful, is married to a county sheriff and they have three children, two boys and a girl. Third daughter, Tamie is married and lives in West Valley City. Her husband works for a title company and they have one girl and are expecting another an-other child as Tamie works away on her masters in education at the U of U. When they married, Rose had five children from her previous marriage. mar-riage. Her oldest daughter is living in Unionville, NY and is married with five children, one boy and four girls. Her husband works in one of the gold mines there. Her next son lives at home and is going to school to be a chiropractor and is not married. The third daughter lives in Blackfoot, ID, has two boys and three girls and her husband works as a printer. The next one lives in Las Vegas and has two boys and two girls and works for a heating and air conditioning company. com-pany. The youngest lives at home and is going to beauty school and has a boy friend. Last year the Tingeys were able to go to Hawaii for a vacation which was the first vacation that did not have to do with rodeo, since they were married. Tingey lost his dad in May 1998 and his mom is doing well for someone who is now 83. The Tingeys send along then-best then-best and say stop in if any of you ever get up to Logan. |
