Show Kick-Off Party Held For Panguitch Quilt Walk PANGUITCH -Panguitch : Quilt Walk Chairman Pat Oetting hosted this years Kick-off Kick-off Party which was well-attended and had all kinds of new '. information for volunteers to depart with. New Quilt Walk Agenda ; With the Sixth Annual Quilt ' '. Walk Festival barely one month : away, June 12-14, each day from now till June will be crucial in ; pulling together to accomplish the expansive agenda set up for this season. It was announced by Oetting -: - that an LDS Stake in northern Utah is going to use the Panguitch Quilt Walk theme to build a float for their entry in the July 24th parade in Salt Lake City. This group has expressed interest in finding ancestors from the settlers of 1 864 to walk on the quilts during the parade. If any persons are interested they can contact Oetting. A very special honor it will be too for Panguitch to be the only town in Utah to display the prestigious pres-tigious 911 Quilt prepared in Long Beach, Calif, to honor the victims of that tragedy. The quilt is made up of 110 pieces that are 10 ft. by 10 foot. It's 300 feet long and finding a place to display it is going to be a (See QUILT on page 7A) Quilt Walk Party From Front Page problem. Over 1,000 people a day came to view this historic quilt while it was on display in Long Beach. It is going on nationwide tour after it leaves Panguitch. Tried and True Events This year the standard tried and true events of years past will be featured at the Quilt Walk including the quilt show, quilt and scrapbooking classes, quilt trunk show, quilt walk dinner theater, cowboy action shoot, craft fair, heritage fair, pioneer home tour and the Panguitch Lions Club famous pancake breakfast. New This Year ' New this year will be a half dozen great ideas being implemented imple-mented for the first time in 2003. This will include entertainment enter-tainment and food vendors, quilt walk races with $200 prize for the winning team (funds donated donat-ed by the Lions Club), quilting, a sheep camp, street dance and LDS Primary Childrens Chalk Quilt Show. ' Traditional Quilting Classes Pat Oetting noted that attendance atten-dance in all the quilting classes is traditionally excellent. People travel from far distances to participate but locals are missing out on this wonderful experience. She encourages local folks to keep the second week of June clear to take advantage of this great opportunity. |
