Show PANGUITCH news By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 Coats have replaced shirt sleeves in the valley. Most birds have left and the mountain peaks are touched with white. We are grateful for any moisture we get. Two funerals during the past' week have brought quite a number num-ber of natives home. Gwen Cooper Davis Edwards's funeral was held Oct. 8. We didn't get to see her family but her kids Barbara, Bette, Doug and Grant, grew up here. Gwen has been in the Long Term Care Center here for several years. Her sisters were here to see her often. For the funeral of Beverly Norton Goulding, native cousins from out of town were Bill and Marsha Owens and Jeff and Carolyn Dodds Owens, sons of the late Datus and Lida Owens; Grant, Sheldon and Darlene, children of the late Russell and Memphis Talbot; Doug, Arda and Meladene, children of the late Archie and Freda Talbot; Karen Talbot Williams, daughter of Mamie and the late Stanley Talbot. Beverly's brother, DeLane Norton and his wife Mary and son Troy and family were here and Rip Goulding came from Cedar City. There were many Goulding relatives in attendance also. Erma Henrie Galloway's daughter Martha has moved to Cedar City to pursue her "after high school" life. John Yardley has been called to the 5th Quorum of the Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. He will serve mainly in the Utah area. Quite a number of folks from here went north for LDS General Conference. Merle Stowell had to do some quick thinking to make it home in time to speak in Beverly Goulding's funeral. Shaine and Anne Anderson have had new roofing put on their home. It is the former Kenny MillerDub Davis house. New people in town are the Adam Erways who live in the Blaine Tebbs home on River Lane. The Erways do maintenance mainte-nance work at the former Pink Cliffs Motel, now Bryce Canyon Resort. Lyle, Kathy, Kim and Callee Talbot stopped at mom, Mamie Talbots on their way home to Sandy from St. George, where Callee played softball games until they got rained out. Steve, Susan, Scott and Bryce Talbot stopped overnight at Mamie's on their way home to Escondido, Calif. They had been to Salt Lake City for LDS General Conference and visited with their college kids, Justin, Amanda and Eric, at BYU. Shots are being heard around the valley. Hunters must be seeing see-ing some buck deer. The smoke from the controlled con-trolled burn on the forest was seen before the little storm we had. Here for Hilma Excell's 90th birthday celebration were all of her kids and some grandkids. Roger Talbot, his wife, son and grandson, were at Juanita Talbot's, along with Linda and Tony Wright and son. They came for aunt Hilma's birthday. Steve Hatch, who worked for the Forest Service, was killed Oct. 9 by a falling tree. Our deepest sympathy goes to Janice and family. Charlie Morgan lost some fingers in an accident at Panguitch High School. Elliot Brinkerhoff, son of Kendell and Marilyn Brinkerhoff, married Kami Hanson in the Bountiful LDS Temple on Oct. 12. An open house was held on Oct. 13 for them. |
