Show By Marva Fletcher 679-8521 Mel and Phyllis Beard attended attend-ed the wedding of Phyllis' son, John Jacks, in Las Vegas, Nev. They stopped in Cedar City on the way and picked up her son Jay who also went. Following the wedding, they had a mini-reunion mini-reunion with family members from California, Arizona and Utah. Then they spent the LDS Conference weekend in Provo-with Provo-with Mel's daughters, Kim . Parnell and Melanie Kau and their families. George W. Thompson, his daughter, Ann and son-in-law, Tom Reese, their daughter, Ginger and her two little daughters, daugh-ters, all of Las Vegas, Nev., came to dig their potatoes and finish the harvesting of their garden here. Many hands make light work, so they were able to finish in one afternoon. Since the weather forecast was for cooler weather, they decided to return to their home in Las Vegas, Nev., the next day. The report from Lark Reynolds at the care center in Panguitch is that he is about the same. His wife Bea stays with their daughter Susan and spends most of her time there during the days. Called around a bit and learned that Howard Leavitt came through the surgery all right but is still in the ICU. Dorothy Leavitt and her daughter daugh-ter Launa West are staying at the Jubilee House. He may be able to come home next week if he continues to improve. Golden and Roxanna Johnson went to St. George for medical appointments on Monday. Rosemary Fletcher came and spent Saturday with her mother, Marva Fletcher. Sunday morning morn-ing they went to Cedar City and . watched LDS Conference. Then Monday they went to Salt Lake City where they stayed with son Rex Fletcher and his family and visited several days. They visited with Marva's sisters, sis-ters, Eleh Lazenby who is seriously seri-ously ill and with Nellie Higbee who sends her regards to everyone every-one who remembers her from the time she was supervisor of the elementary schools in Garfield County. They talked to Theron and Laurie Coon on the telephone and they are in Salt Lake City waiting for Laurie to have surgery there. They came from Nauvoo where they are serving an LDS mission and will report back to finish the mission if Laurie gets along all right after the surgery. They also sent their love to all. Rosemary cooked one of her famous Dutch oven dinners for family and friends while they were there. Gretha Twitchell spent several sever-al days in the hospital after she suffered a mini-stroke, but she is home now and doing better, for which we are all thankful. There was certainly a lot of activity on Stock Lane last week! Altogether, 35 of Arma Stock's relatives were in town to visit. It all started when Arma's daughter and son-in-law Nora and Jim Wagner of Knoxville, Tenn., announced their plans to come to Cannonville for their annual visit. Once word got out about Nora's visit, it started a "chain reaction" of visiting relatives. rela-tives. Among the kin were: grandson grand-son David Burr of Roy, daughter and son-in-law Iris and Arnell Burr of Elko, Nev.; son and daughter-in-law Marty and Gail Stock of St. George, and grandson grand-son Dirk Burr, his wife Marcy and their three sons, Jordan, Riley, and Kale of Phoenix, Ariz. Then, sister Nina Wilden and her daughter Becky of Lynndyl, Utah; brother Terry Dutton of Lynndyl, granddaughter granddaugh-ter Kathy Julander, her husband, Johnny and their three kids, Dominaca, Colby and Kolton of Panguitch and granddaughter, Toni Anderson, and her husband. hus-band. Bill and their three kids, Bryant Breanna and Brady of Manti. Still other relatives included granddaughter Kristy Clark and her husband Shawn and their three kids, Shantel, Garrett and Wyatt also of Manti; and ' granddaughter, Ronnie Winder and three daughters, Tracy, Laura and Tasha of Escalante. Gerald and Dawn Stock, and Jeff and Jan Stock generously opened up their homes and kitchens to the dozens of relatives rela-tives who came and went through the six-day period. Shelby and Amber Stock kept many of the cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren entertained. Naturally, there was plenty of delicious food and delightful conversation, and a good time was had by all. Many of Arma's out-of-town guests stayed in Cannonville's beautiful new Grand Staircase Inn. How fortunate we are to have such a lovely motel right in town to accommodate our visiting visit-ing relatives. The Stocks would like to express their appreciation to the Johnsons and Thompsons for all the hospitality they showed their guests. |
