Show GSCALMJ7G UGUS By Marlene Haws 826-4859 Lane and Geraldine Liston had Danny and Sherri Meisenbach and family, of Orange, Calif., here for a few days. They came to hunt, but that was unsuccessful so they gave Lane and Geraldine a workout by taking them for a hike to Broken Bow Arch, on the Desert. They agreed that it was spectacular! They also . went on down to the Hole In The Rock. Emilee (Liston) Clark came over from Cannonville to visit, a couple of times, while the Meisenbachs were here. She later suffered a fall from a horse, so she has been pretty bruised up for a while. Quite a few people from Escalante went to Bicknell to watch our girls play volleyball. In the group were: Brent, Patrice and Chad Cottam, Klyn and Marlene Haws, Kevin and Vicky Schulkoski, Cindy Steed, Debbie Lyman, Tammy Christensen, Sherree Lyman. Also Jon, and Jillyn Sorensen and their family came from Salina to watch. There may have been others that I didn't see. Rick Haws had his son, Klyn, here from Phoenix for a visit. Rick and his friend Marian Casse made a trip to Loma, Colo., to visit Rick's brother and sister-in-law Robert and Goldie Haws. Visiting at the home of Clorene Vidrine were her children chil-dren and their spouses, Marty and Debbie Vidrine, Riverton; and Jerry and Annette Muse, St. George. Oh, yes, and their dog, Chester. The children of Monte and Sylvia Luker came from Salt Lake for a weekend visit. Chante Vriens and son, Ashton, and Monte Jr. Sylvia said her house was not childproofed, so you can guess what they did part time! Pat and Bobbi Coughlin and Barry Barnson have had some bears visiting their property west of town. So if any of you have any inclination to hike around in that area you may want to think twice about it. Coughlin's dog had one treed early one morning, not too far from the house. At this writing Garneal Smith is in the Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch. Brent Cottam had to be taken to his doctor in St. George for treatment. Former resident and ' good friend, Nancy (Droubay) Baker, called from Richfield to tell me that Kolleen (Griffin) Wayne, also a former resident, friend and Escalante postal clerk, would be undergoing two surgeries sur-geries this week. First for a carotid artery in her neck and then for double bypass heart surgery. sur-gery. This makes the third time Kolleen has had heart surgery in as many years. Ben and Renee Porter and Blake Robinson are in Provo! And Ben is upset with me because I cheated him out of one of his last rides of the summer! It was Ben and Arnold Alvey that Mark Lyman rode with while he was here, not McKay Bailey as I reported. Sorry Ben! How do you expect me to keep up with all these cowboys? A week or two ago Klyn and I went to Salina to attend a concert con-cert at the Black Hawk Arena with our grandchildren. The Cottam kids joined us there. Shondelle came from Cedar City, Ryan from Orem, Chad from Escalante and Alan Sorensen, who lives there in Salina. We really enjoyed the grandkids. Now do you want to hear about the concert? No? Well, here goes anyway. I can sum it up in one paragraph. .. Now I know I am from a whole different generation than some who were there. And never did go in for that ear-splitting kind of music. But if I were a star, and I had practiced and practiced, and learned all the words to ALL those songs, only to have my band drown me out on every single number, they would only play for me one night. Maybe not EVEN that long! But then what do I know? I've only sung for 60-some years! So, how was your week? |
