Volunteers Cited For Aid To Upper Sevier River ESCALANTE John Parsons and Susan McCulla, Dixie National Forest volunteers who were living in Escalante mid-May to mid-October took on the task of creating a website and community newsletter for the Upper Sevier River Community. Parsons and McCulla worked closely with Utah State, University Cooperative Extension Exten-sion Service Agent Kevin Heaton, Panguitch, who helped to research and report ongoing projects. The Upper Sevier River News, a community watershed information summary, is published pub-lished periodically in Panguitch through USU Extension in partnership part-nership with the Utah Association Associa-tion of Conservation Districts and the U.S. Forest Service. The publication has been partly funded by a grant from the Utah Department of Environmental Quality. An Annual Banquet and Conference was held late September in St. George at which Parsons and McCulla received recognition certificates awarded by the Utah Nonpoint Source Task Force for their efforts as newsletter editors. Four other projects related to .the Upper Sevier River Community Watershed Project were also honored. Certificates and $250 checks were awarded to Kevin Heaton, the Information and Education Committee, Marilyn Bulkley for her innovative Outdoor Education activities and Allen Henrie for his dedicated dedicat-ed work to help restore Panguitch Creek at his family ranch.
