Show Area Obituaries Mae Williams Madson PANGUITCH - Mae Williams Madson, age 61, died April 12, 2002, at the Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George. She was born May 5, 1940 in Kayenta, Ariz., a daughter daugh-ter of Benjamin and Gloria LaRue Johnson Williams. She married Danny Kee Madson in Kayenta. He died in 1983. Mae spent her younger years on the reservation in Kayenta and her school years in Snowflake, Ariz. She lived in Panguitch for many years, working for several years at a dry cleaners before working at a sewing plant in Panguitch. She came to St. George in 1989 where she worked for Artex International. She had been attending the New Life Christian Center. Mae enjoyed being with her grandkids. She loved nature and spending time at the cabin at Panguitch Lake with her best friend Delbert Toneck. Surviving family members include her mother Gloria LaRue John of Kayenta; five children, Katy (Edwin) Fife of St. Geoerge, Curtis (Stella) Madson of Kingman, Ariz., Irvin Lee Madson, Cynthia (Bryan) Hopkins and Viola (Vince) Jones, all of St. George; ! ! I - J ; Mae Madson 15 grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; two brothers, Benjamin Williams and Herman John, both of Arizona; five sisters, sis-ters, Rose Ann Johnson, Lorraine Lor-raine Thomas, Margaret Yazzie, Charlene John, all of Arizona, and Rose Black of Cedar City. She was preceeded in death by stepfather M. John in 1989. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Apr. 16, at the Panguitch LDS Stake Center. Burial was at the Panguitch City Cemetery under the direction direc-tion of Spilsbury & Beard Mortuary in St. George. James M. Dodds Jim Dodds PANGUITCH - James M. Dodds, 82, passed away Apr. 14, 2002, at Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City. He was born April 9, 1920, in Panguitch, to James W. and Mae Excell Dodds. Jim was a farmer and livestock live-stock man all his life except the time he took to serve his country in WW II. He was assigned to the 2208th QM Truck Co. and landed on Omaha Beach during the "D" Day invasion of Normandy. He served in England, Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was very proud to have served his country and never wanted anyone to forget for-get the sacrifices of the men who fought and died for their country. After the war Jim returned to Panguitch and the farm where he raised hogs, sheep and cattle. He also did custom cutting, bailing, bail-ing, and combining for most of the farmers in the valley.. He had the first self propelled Windrower and combine in the valley. Jim took very good care of his farm equipment and although most of it is over 40 years old it is still in use today. He had a special love for his livestock, especially his dogs and horses. Jim married his long time pen pal, Vera E. Norman, who he had met during the war. They were married on July 4, 1954, in Fredonia, Ariz. She preceded him in death, Aug. 15, 1996. He is survived by his sons, Emron Q. (Rita) Dodds, Grace, Ida.; Dave W. (Cindy) Dodds, Bud J. (Julie) Dodds, both of Panguitch; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford B. (Mary) Dodds, Granger; Billy J. (Joann) Dodds, Elsinore; sister, Beth (DeWitt) Heywood, Panguitch; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elvera Dodds, Page, Ariz.; Jack (Lucille) Flories, Reno, Nev.; Don (June) Knobel; Jim (Joan) Norman, both of Casper, Wyo; and a lot of good friends. He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Vera; brother W.C. "Ceicil" Dodds. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 18, 2002, at 1 p.m. in the Panguitch 3rd LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be with military rites by Panguitch American Legion Post 25 in the Panguitch Cemetery.
