Show Wildfire Still Burning Near Parowan PAROWAN - Dixie National Forest Information Officer Frances Reynolds reports that the fire being fought on the Dixie 5.5 miles up Parowan Canyon, southwest of Parowan had consumed some 161 acres at of 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Three fire crews and one helicopter hel-icopter were at the scene of the fire which probably started by lightning last Friday evening, smoldering over the weekend until high winds on Monday blew it into activity. The fire currently is burning on the ridgeline west of Hwy. 143. Three crews are working to build a hand line around the fire. A helicopter is supporting the effort by dropping buckets of water on hot spots. The line is expected to be completed in three days. |
