Show PMJGUI7GU UGl'JS By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 The new calves and lambs are pretty much here now and the recent warmer weather helped for their comfort. The animals are trying to get a bit of green grass but they are mostly scraping scrap-ing dirt. A few perennial flowers are showing shoots of green. The Wade Hovingas have a new baby. President Wynn Turek and his wife, Shauna of the St. George LDS Temple presidency, and a Hatch native, were here for the missionary farewells. Dudley Proctor celebrated her 88th birthday on Mar. 26 as Clark and Gwen Frandsen took her and Jay to Mesquite where they stayed overnight. Jim and Barbara Frandsen Duckett from Henderson, NV, joined them for dinner and a get-together to help celebrate grandma's birthday. Jay and Dudley enjoyed looking around at the changes that have taken place since they used to spend the winters there. New members of the Cornelia Loyhova Daughters of Utah Pioneers Camp met Apr. 2 at the Senior Citizens Center. They enjoyed hearing the history of Washington County given by Neucile Yardley, the life history of pioneer James Shephard Montague, given by his great-granddaughter, great-granddaughter, Cauleen Goulding Pollock and the short history of former general president presi-dent Flora Bean Home given by Mary Harris. We were told that R & R Welding has taken the old coal furnace out of the basement of the DUP Museum. Now we will have room for more relics. The room needs wall repairs and paint after it is cleaned. Lots of help will be needed. Election of new officers was held. These people will take over June 1st: Captain Marie Liston, Vice Captains Laraine Allen and Merle Stowell, Secretary Treasurer Barbara Talbot, Registrar Annette Beckstrom, Historian Pearl Walker and Chaplain Gwen Frandsen. Ella Adair, longtime resident of Tropic and friend to everyone here, died in Cedar City. Her funeral was held in Tropic. Our love goes to her family. Norma Talbot went with her daughter, Roma Wilcock and granddaughter, Janalee of Cedar City to Pleasant Grove to take care of the children of Jim and Ericka Wilcock. Jim teaches music at Pleasant Grove High School and he and Ericka accompanied his choir members to Washington, D.C. where they had several performances and did a lot of sightseeing. Sunday, the Wilcock family and Norma Talbot attended the missionary farewell for Norma's grandson, Gary Talbot. He is a son of Tom and Maxine Talbot of Greenwich. He will serve in the Philippines Bacolod Mission. George and Thora Proctor went to Orem with their daughter, daugh-ter, Coileen Barlow, where George had surgery on both eyes. Their son, Jim brought them back home. Lyle and Kathy Talbot came from Sandy to spent the Easter weekend with mom Mamie Talbot and to attend the missionary mission-ary farewell of Kathy's brother and sister-in-law Vern and Pam Robjson. The Talbots' daughter Kimberlee is graduating from (See PANGUITCH on page 4A) Panguitch From Page 3-A Brigham Young University this month. She majored in voice performance and had to give a one hour musical recital to complete com-plete her senior year. We hear it turned out great. She has such a beautiful voice. Seth Williams, son of Dennis and Karen Talbot Williams, will graduate from Brigham Young University also this month. He is looking for a graduate school in physical therapy. Jeremiah and Brook Boger are living in the former Henderson Johnson house next to the Russell Bulkleys. . He drives truck for Paul Partridge and Brook attends Southern Utah University in Cedar City. Several of the local farmers are getting some of their fields irrigated with what little water there is available. The road into the new Westview Subdivision north of town is completed. The electric power, water and sewer come next. |
