Show By Marlene Haws 826-4859 The Doyle and Thelma Cottam families have been together a lot this past week. The families of Myron and Sanette Cottam, Brent and Patrice Cottam and Sherrell and Karen Ott, of Tropic, all went to the St. George temple with Myron's and Sannette's daughter,' daugh-ter,' Nicole. All of them came here for a bridal shower, then all went to Logan for the Temple Wedding of Nicole and Rick Ballard. David and Candice Shakespear brought their little son, Dylan, from Ogden to visit his grandparents, Wade and Shelley Barney and Grace Barney. Tom and Rachel Hart and children, Enoch, visited at the home of Rachel's parents, Keith and Linda Carter and with Tom's mom, Nancy Pearson. Nancy's mom, Carrie Pearson, spent a couple of days in the Garfield Memorial Hospital last week. She is home now and feeling better. Nancy's son from Wisconsin came with Tom and Rachel and paid her a surprise visit. JeEtt Rex went to Oakland California for the funeral services servic-es of her stepfather. Condolences to the Rex family. Margie Spencer has a new, Garfield County appointed job as a member of the Water Conservancy Board. Sandra Porter and her daughter, daugh-ter, Lissadawn Cooper, went to Salt Lake to see her son, Jay Hales receive his Masters degree from the University of Phoenix. Jay has done well considering con-sidering the fact that he and Laura have three children, he has been teaching and been a student as well. The Escalante Boy Scout Troop deserves a big pat on the back for -their community service. serv-ice. The people at the Care and Share Unit really do appreciate all the food that was collected, by the scouts, for distribution. Ardis Christensen enjoyed spending a few days in St. George with the children of Gary and Judylyn Christensen. Gary was home at night, but Judylynn had to go to Logan for meetings. She took her mom, Judy Griffin and sister, Dawn Spencer with her. Ardis really Escalante News Prnm Do rrta A enjoyed the little grandkids. It was exciting to see Seth Steed running on TV and watch him take top state honors. Congratulations, Seth. Ben Porter has been doing some acrobatics off his horse. He said it hurt his pride more than anything because McKay Bailey knew about it! He wasn't was-n't too badly bruised up. He was able to go with Renee and her father, Blake Robinson, to the wedding and reception, in St. George, for Justin and Emily Clove Baugh. Renee says Justin came from Tropic over here to work one year while Emily was teaching school here, but they never did meet. They met in St. George on a blind date! Congratulations to them. It's good they finally got together. Ben and Renee met their children, Bryce and Diann Porter, Provo, and Norm and Charlotte Johnson, Orem, at the home of Jim and Shelly Porter Olsen in St. George, then they all went to the temple together for the Baugh wedding. Carolyn and Vergean Porter had Clint and Shanna Porter and family here from Cedar City on the weekend. Also Vergeania Davenport, Summit. Kenneth and Marie Griffin had daughters, DeLoa Fillmore of Provo and Trudy Dickinson, Enoch here on the weekend. Ken and Roma Clark and Ruby Griffin came from St. George to spend the day. The daughters of Gerald Black, Ruby's brother, came and took him back to Oregon to live. He spent the winter with Ruby in St. George. It is good to see that the snowbirds are beginning to migrate North again. Kinda gives you hope that spring may be just around the corner yet! Gene and Thais Griffin are back home after spending the winter in Mesa, Arizona. Daryl and Mary Shumway are home after having spent two or three months at Beaver Dam. Mildred and Lynn Gates are home from Mesa, Ariz. The fish at Otter Creek better look out now. Lynn may want to give them a little longer until the weather warms up some. Don Haws is here from Killeen, Texas and warming up the gardening tools. EvaDean Liston is home. She spent the winter in Salt Lake, Mapleton and Springville with her daughters and their families. Tom and Marilyn Jackson spent the weekend here, then hit the road again in their big truck! Twila Michelangelo, Richfield, was here one day last week. Yukon Norman had surgery last month and we are just finding find-ing out about it. So we weren't too much help to her. She is doing better now. Connie Jepsen, Faye and Neal Jepsen and Neta Poulson, all of Boulder, and Jim and Alene Haws, Torrey, were all here for the funeral of Haws Porter. Our condolences to Ramona Sorensen whose mother passed away recently. |
