Show TQOPicanvjs Vicki Syrett 679-8687 vickiscinternet.net Kent and Betty Wintch enjoyed a double visit last week from their son, Dennis Wintch and his wife, Barbara. They brought daughters Lauren and Morgan with them from Brighton, CO and were on their way to Las Vegas, NV where Kenneth attended a conference on MRI Imaging. On their way back to Colorado, the family was able to stop again, much to the delight of Kent and Betty. Louise England is very proud of fourteen-year-old Kallahan Shakespear of Las Vegas, NV. He is Jim and Louise England's . grandson, the son of Darrell and Kayleen Shakespear of Las Vegas, NV and great grandson of Ora Brinkerhoff of Tropic. Kallahan received his Eagle Scout Award in a ceremony in April. He earned a total of 29 merit badges and his Eagle Scout project involved the refurbishing refur-bishing of an old building where . he scraped paint, refinished the floor, and repainted. Local businesses busi-nesses were more than happy to give donations to help Kallahan on this project, a home for the homeless. Congratulations to Kallahan for a job well done. This columnist was able to attend a dinner meeting in Richfield with their grandson, Jordan Jensen, where he and other Eagle Scouts in the area were honored for their achievement. achieve-ment. The local Richfield Elk's Club gave a flag presentation that evoked memories memo-ries of why we love our country and are proud to be Americans. We were sorry to hear of the . passing of Nyle Richards and send our condolences to the family. Tena Lagasse was in the Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch and now is at home recuperating. Dean Wintch is in the Utah Valley -Hospital in Provo. We wish him the best and our thoughts and prayers are with he and his family. Earl Slack had surgery in Cedar City at the Valley View Medical Center and is now home hobbling hob-bling around on his newly reconstructed knee. It was so nice to talk with Shirley Haycock and hear how happy she is to be home. She was able to get home in time for her grandson, Josh Cox's LDS mission farewell. She says she is recovering slowly but surely and that it will just take time. Glad you are home, Shirley. Visited with Verlynn Munson, Sarah Littlefield and Minnie Nielson in the Garfield Long Term Care Center. They seemed happy to see a visitor and would love to have a card or visit from their friends in Tropic. The Scouts from the area went camping at Pine Lake and when they got up on Saturday morning, they had been snowed on. Ed Shakespaer, son of Dixie Shakespear, called to tell her (See TROPIC on page 7-A) Tropic News From Page 6-A they would come and do a service serv-ice project at her home. They 'mowed lawns, raked and put trash in the truck. It looks so much better and all Dixie had to do was help Ed fix breakfast. Dixie gives a special thanks to Dalian Shakespear, James Barney, Kelson Owens, and Alex, Val and Mike Munson. On Sunday, Dixie's grandson, Scott and wife, Becca, came and spent the afternoon. Dixie was so happy to see them as they will be leaving for Texas on May 6. It is good to see the earth being plowed or tilled, raked, dug, or whatever it takes to get ready for a garden. Somehow it seems like starting over when spring planting takes place.
