Show GSCALMITG tJGVJS By Marlene Haws 826-4859 Margean Schow and her sister, sis-ter, Twila Michelangelo of Richfield are back home after a five-day trip to Florida. They flew from Cedar City to Salt Lake City and from there to Orlando, Fla. They stayed in Kissimee, near Disneyworld. They toured Universal Studios and visited a lot of shell shops, searching for gifts made out of shells. Twila's daughter Sherri Woolsey was probably the recipient of one of those gifts. Butch and Rene Olsen just returned from Jacksonville, Fla. Butch drove a truckload of belongings back there for Bud and Monty Revord. He said it took five days to drive back there and five hours to fly back to Utah. The family of Stanley Haycock got together for his 93rd birthday, which was on Oct. 26. There were 45 in attendance. atten-dance. Douglas and Barbara Haycock came from Las Vegas, along with their three daughters, Natalie, Brook and Kelly and a prospective son-in-law. Donita Dunham and family came from Tropic; Jack and Janice Reardon and family from Cedar City; and from Escalante: Gordon and Almeda Haycock, Dwight and Cris Haycock and family, Warren and Linda Haycock and family, Charlene Woolsey and family, Mary Griffin, Clem and Joyce Griffin. They took Stan to the Prospector Restaurant for dinner, complete with a birthday cake, and said he seemed to enjoy it very much. Harriet Priska had her mom, Winnie Washburn, here for a few days following memorial services in Salinas, Calif., for Harriet's father, Harry Washburn. Both were most appreciative of the condolences offered them by people in Escalante. Winnie's stay was cut short when she had the opportunity to ride back to Salinas with Kathleen Munthie, whose father was in the same Hospice House in Monterey as Harry had been in. The American Legion in Salinas presented pre-sented the Washburn family with a 5-foot x 9-foot American Flag, which was presented to Escalante Mayor, Lenza Wilson, to be used on the city flag pole at the Veteran's Day Program on Nov. 11, Winnie's 85th birthday. Word was received here that June Van Hemert passed away in St. George on Tuesday, Nov. 5. June was a postal clerk in the Escalante Post Office in the 60's, when Wayne Barney was postmaster. Our condolences to her family. Donnie and Gwen Porter went to St. George last weekend to attend the LDS temple. They were accompanied by their parents par-ents Marvin and Gloria Porter and Rolain Alvey. Also their bishop, Alan Torgersen and his wife, Melanie. Congratulations to the Porters. Arnold and Deon Alvey went to Las Vegas, Nev., for a weekend week-end get-a-way. They visited their children, Dave and Raylene Whitefield and Andy and Denise Dube and grandchildren, grandchil-dren, Jessica, Justin and Michael. Lewis and Jean Griffin came down from Provo for a few days to install a new stove in their house. Then they hurried back to check on the progress of the new house they are having built in Provo. Ben Porter has finished his rehab in St. George and is having hav-ing more rehab in Provo now. He says he is back at Renee's house now. Says his home is in Escalante. |
