Show County Commission Meets PANGUITCH The Garfield County Commission met Oct. 14 for a regularly scheduled meeting. Present were Commission Chair Maloy Dodds, Commissioners Dell LeFevre and Clare Ramsay, County ClerkAuditor Camille Moore and County Attorney Wallace Lee. Minutes of the meeting show the following: Public Works Sheep Creek Road: Shane Stubbs asked that the road across his property be abandoned aban-doned having constructed a road to replace the existing road. County Engineer Brain Bremner, who had inspected the road, gave the commissioners an overview of both roads. Bremner and Commissioner Ramsay' would make a site visit to assess requirements to being the road up to county standards. When improvements are satisfactory, satis-factory, the abandonment process will be started. Public Hearing Bonanza Estates Amended Plat Present for the Public Hearing were County Recorder Les Barker, Bremner, Joe and Shirley Saxton, and Jay Adams, Adams Engineering. Barker presented the Bonanza Estates amended plat and explained the changes under which one road would be re-aligned to keep it within the boundaries of the subdivision. By motion and unanimous vote in favor, the commissioners accepted the amended plat and made necessary neces-sary arrangements for relocation of the right of way. Bryce Canyon Airport 2003 Project Funding Ryan Pritchard, Armstrong Consultants and Greg Pollock, airport manager, discussed proposed pro-posed 2003 project funding under which the state would help to fund ramp expansion project at the airport for a total cost of $320,000, The state would fund 90 percent, with the county's portion at $32,000. Pritchard outlined the history of funding, with federal funding available in 2003 for the parallel taxiway at the airport. The project proj-ect will be 95 percent federally funded and the county's match would be 5 percent at $34,000. Total project cost will be $769,738. By motion and unanimous vote in favor, the commissioners approved Armstrong Consultants proceeding pro-ceeding with the funding requests. The county's matching match-ing funds will be allocated during dur-ing the budget process, Pritchard will look at the possibility possi-bility of using the gravel pit at the landfill as part of the match (See MEETING on page 2A) Commission From Front Page ing funds. National FFA Convention Jason Excell and Jason Dalton, Panguitch High School, asked for assistance in making possible a trip to attend the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky with a group from Utah. By motion and unanimous vote in favor, the commissioners approved $100 each to help with the students' travel expense. Justice Court Certification After review, by motion and unanimous vote in favor, the Commission adopted Garfield County Resolution 2002-11 and 2002-12. By law, the court must be recertified at the end of every fourth year and the county must confirm its willingness to meet all the requirements for the operation oper-ation of the court during the period of recertification. The two resolutions accomplished the legal requirements. Board of Equalization After review of the recommendation recom-mendation of the Hearing Officer, by motion and unanimous unani-mous vote, the Commission approved the decisions of the Board of Equalization. |
