Show By Marlene Haws 826-4859 Jerry and Sherree Roundy went to Kaysville to spend time with Jerry's daughter, Melanie Kunz, who celebrated her 40th birthday anniversary. Melanie is only half as old as her uncle, Vivian Roundy, who was celebrating cele-brating his 80th. Jerry and Sherree Sher-ree also attended Vivian's party, along with Betty R. Alvey, sister and brother-in-law Wavie and Ralph Siple of Idaho Falls, Ida. and brother and sister-in-law Floyd and Mila Roundy of Menden. Clorene" Vidrine went up north with Jerry and Sherree Roundy and Betty Alvey and will stay a week until her grandson, Ty , Vidrine, leaves to go on his LDS mission. Ty is the son of Marty and Debbie Vidrine, Riverton. Helen Shurtz celebrated her birthday in the hospital in Casper, Wyo. She has had two knee replacements re-placements and one of them was acting up, so she had to go back in and have some more work done on it. She is doing okay and recovering re-covering at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Sarah and Dennis Cowles. Nelda Spencer celebrated her 90th birthday Sept. 19. Jerry and Sherree Roundy hosted a family ' .! jr birthday dinner for her at their home. In attendance were: Nelda's husband, Maitland; Sher-ree's Sher-ree's children and the grandchildren grandchil-dren of the Spencers; Barry and Machelle Petersen, Palmdale, Calif.; Darrel and Rose Spencer and their son, Nicolas, and Evan Spencer all of Salt Lake City. Nelda was excited. She said that was the first birthday party she ever had in her life. So, happy happy birthday Nelda! Vergean and Carolyn Porter went to St. George to attend the blessing and naming of a great granddaughter, Kayla Ann. The little girl is the daughter of Burke and Jenny Davenport. They live in Logan but the maternal grand-,' grand-,' parents,, Mike and Lin4a, .Stahli live in St. George so all the grandparents gathered there for the occasion. Vergeania Davenport, Daven-port, Summit, is the other grandmother grand-mother and Leo and Barbara Gardner, Boulder, are the other great-grandparents. Vergeania also has a new grandson, Travis Wade, who is the son of Wade and Melanie Gale. Congratulations Congratula-tions to all! Klyn and Marlene . Haws, Brent, Patrice, Shondelle, Elisa and Chad Cottam all went' to Salina for the blessing of the baby daughter of Jon and Jillyn Soren-sen. Soren-sen. Shaylyn is the baby's name and she was blessed by her uncle, Brent Cottam. (See ESCALANTE on page 4-A) Escalante News From page 2-A All of Gene and Thais driffin's children were home for the naming nam-ing and blessing of Brent and Kathy Griffin's baby. Mark Griffin and family, St. George; Gary and Sheila Griffin, American Fork; Melanie Griffin, Las Vegas, Nev. and Matt and Stephanie Volter, St. George. The next day the baby had to be taken by life flight to Salt Lake City where he had to have another blood transfusion. It was a frightening experience for them but they have the baby home again and he is doing okay. Our condolences to Matt and Stephanie who recently lost their first baby. Hopefully the Griffin's luck will be all good from now on. Jim Spencer had open heart surgery again, in Provo, and is finally starting to heal again. Although he is still spending most of his day running back and forth to the hospital he is able to be home at night, in Orem. Hopefully Hope-fully he and Janet will be able to take one of the trips they have planned before too long. They've had to miss out on a couple just lately. Ruby Griffin spent a week or 10 days with Janet while Jim was in the hospital. Joy Carter had surgery in St. George and after she got home was experiencing some difficulties difficul-ties and had to be taken back to the doctors. They gave her some more medication and sent her back home where she is doing okay again. It will be a while before she goes back to work again though! Ty Sandifer developed a staph infection in the arm he had surgery sur-gery on. He and his mom, Faye Lyman, have learned a lot about nursing skills in the past few weeks. Hope it heals quickly now! |
