Show American Legion Holds Contest PANGUITCH The American Legion Auxiliary recently held it's annual Americanism Essay contest, which helps promote underastand-ing, underastand-ing, pride, and patriotism in students. stu-dents. Fifth and sixth graders were given the title, "The American Family and Freedom,". Winners in that catergory were Spencer Owens, first place; Austin Orton, second place; and Andrew Mitchell, third place.' "America; My Love, My Life, My Country," was the title for seventh sev-enth and eighth graders. Winners were: Mandy Cooper and Jeffery Perkins, first place. Special honors were given to Mitch Moore, Brittney Nay, Mitchell Owens, Erin Fisher, Shawn Marshall, Emily Marshall and Ashley Cowgill. Overall winners were Spencer Owens and Mandy Cooper. Their essays were sent on to the District competition, and then will possibly be sent to the State competition. All winners received cash awards. Panguitch teachers, including Marilyn Bulkley, Sherill Henrie and Gloria Houston, were a big part of the competition, encouraging their students to participate in the contest. |
