Show It Don H Make Sense Lately I've been thinking a lot about all the different issues that have surfaced in Escalante like the new reservoir that was protested by SUWA, and the BLM's re-inventory , of new wilderness. The one thing that bugs me most is the Escalante Center or Science Center's affiliation affilia-tion with the Garfield County Schools and the Federal Government. Govern-ment. In my opinion it just as well be called The Environmentalist Center. Even if it starts off well, I fear that in a year or so, like other government agencies in Escalante, it will employee Greens who will not do things in our best interest. The Federal Government locks up the land that has potential to make a great tax base for our schools, and makes promises of money for our schools. Have we seen it yet? I don't think so! Now the school system is catering cater-ing to the Governor by providing an office in the high school for the planning of this center. Our school board is even looking at giving county school land to the Federal Government to build this environmentalist environ-mentalist center. I don't think it's right to put a public federal building build-ing on our school property. I don't watlt this influence on my children. It is not safe. If the center has an educational value to our children, that's fine. We can send them on a field trip.
