Show Tropic News By Louise Ott 679-8776 Visiting at Ella Adair's home for three days were Larry and Carol Adair from St. George. Also, Chery Bateman, a former student teacher of Mrs. Adair visited. When she lived here, she lived with Wallace and Mary Ott, when their children, Kathy and Kim were quite small. Gail and Bonnie Miles had a friend, Douglas Benson from Midvale, plus children and grandchildren visiting including Jeff and Annette Miles, Boise, Ida.; JoAnn Carter from Orem; Greg and and Sue Miles from Las Vegas, Nev. and Carrie Ferris from Cedar City. We regret an error in last week's column. John and Marie Niemann traveled to Manti not to attend a temple session, as we erroneously reported, but to meet with family members to attend to graves and erect headstones at the Manti City Cemetery. Louis and Hilma Haas had recent re-cent visitors from Minden, Nev., son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Susan Haas and Susan's son, Andy Word. Susan and Kris Feltner went shopping while the men visited the golf course. Visiting Nile and Merle Richards were Reldon and Dixie Richards of Apache Junction, Ariz. Rachel and Shelly Pollock and Dan and Linda Martin and family from Harriman, Utah spent the holiday at the DeVar and Faye Pollock home. Steve and Machele Pollock and children attended the St. George Temple. Many friends, family and extended family members from both of their families were there for this joyous occasion. Del Rae Pollock reported that all four of her and Afton's children were in the temple that day, so it was a special time for all. Stopping to see Jack and Janet Pollock was granddaughter Jennifer Carter from Vernal, Utah. She brought along that great -grandson Wyatt Carter for them to enjoy. Jennifer is a daughter of Jacki Kincaid of Henrieville. A good time was having True and Joan Ott and family from Cedar City visit with parents Stan and Louise Ott. Clive and Thelma Bybee had a house full for their annual yard clean up event. There was more family visiting at the Royal and Rella Alvey Alvey home over Easter. Kenneth and Ida Alvey from Las Vegas and the Afton Branch family from Salt Lake City were here. They had a large family outing and enjoyed one another. A Big Welcome to El wood and Coleen Campbell. It is so good to have them home and see lights on again. Hope the stay in California was pleasant and the operations successful. Asked Douglas Ahlstrom how the trip was to Florida. He said they had a good time but it is sure good to be home. Roland and Palma Miles visited with the Malen Mechams on Sunday to watch LDS General Conference with them. They live in Cedar City. Marian Mecham also reports that Margaret R. Mecham is doing great after her surgery, was being released and will stay with her mother, Melva Redford for a few days. She hopes to come home on Friday or Saturday. Margaret Mecham and Margie Mecham went to visit their family in West Valley City over Conference weekend. They always plan a family gathering at this time of year. Malen and Marian Mecham said that son Jerry Mecham of Green River will be having surgery on Monday, Apr. 15. Robyn and Sharon Griffin from Monroe spent some , time at the Charles and Eva Dean Francisco home. They had their children with them. Tuesday Charles Francisco and Amos Barker took Charlie Mortensen's horse over to Parowan for him. Charlie thinks that this is the greatest horse in the country. His name is "Dumplin." He was bottle fed as a colt by Clare Ramsay, who sold it to someone and Charles Francisco subsequently bought it for his grandson. Martin Ramsay asked Charlie is he would sell it, offered him $500 for it, and Charlie's reply was "I wouldn't sell it for $5,000 or any amount of money." Jerry Pollock's surgery was postponed for another week. He was in hopes of coming home for a few days but must return on Apr. 15 for surgery on the 16th. By the time this column appears the surgery will be over and hopefully he will be on the mend. Visiting over the weekend with parents and sister was Ben Riddle, Jr. and family from San Diego, Calif. They were here for the Easter Cantata. Staying over the Easter weekend at the LaMar and Cheri Feltner home were some of the Riddle children. Cheri took care of two grandchildren as well for a couple of days. On Sunday, Stanley and Louise were in Cedar City as son, True Ott was advanced to a high priest in his LDS ward and father Stan had the privilege of ordaining him. Malen Littlefield passed away on April 10. He was a great man, beautiful carpenter, easy conversationalist, great sense of (See Tropic News on Page 3A) Tropic News From Page 2A humor but most of all, everything he did was done in a superior way, no mistakes. He will truly be missed by all. Kent and Betty Lou Wintch were in Richfield on business. Why does it take us all day to out of town now? It isn't because we are slowing down, is it? Minnie Nielson has a pleasant experience on Thursday as a cousin Harold Nielson and wife, Monty and a daughter from Mountain View, Alberta, Canada, came to visit with her. Their fathers were brothers. They also visited Marie Niemann. Johnny and Marie Niemann went to Ogden to visit Marie's father, Fred Hall. Having and Easter get together on Saturday was Jared and Mindy Barton and Rhett and Sarah Barton from Cedar City. Then they went to Kanab and had another celebration on Monday. Berdell and Carman Barton and Connie, Shannon and Erin Heap from Kanab visited for a day. Paul and Keela Mangum got Kent and Laura Cottam and Ward and Lee Mangum took them to Mesquite, Nev. to watch Pete's horse race. Tawn and Cami Mangum were in attendance celebrating their anniversary. Shawn and Chrystal Mortensen went to Mesquite to have their horse race on Friday. It is really something when we have to go all the way to Cedar City to meet our neighbors. Saw Orlan and Ferriland Ruesch at doctors appointments and they had seen Jack and Mae Chynoweth and Gene and Mary Etta Chynoweth in and about town. All is well with everyone. |
