Show DWR Makes Hunters' List Available In Cedar City, A Long Trip To Discover Who Else Drew Out Local hunters may have learned by mail that they were one of the fortunate ones to draw out, but in this southern Utah hunter's paradise, most like to find out who else drew out. According to the Division of Wildlife Resources official news release: Most hunters were happy, but a few were confused, when results of the 1997 Utah Bucks, Bulls and Once-In-A-Lifetime Draw arrived in their mailbox prior to March 3 1 . Most of the confusion resulted from hunters not realizing the draw is often completed a few days before results are posted. "Before the draw result list can be posted it must be double-checked, double-checked, to ensure the proper number of permits for each hunt have been allocated and that no other errors have been made," said Judi Tutorow, wildlife licensing licens-ing coordinator for the Division of Wildlife Resources. "To do all the double checking and verifying requires that the draw be conducted a few days prior to posting the results, to ensure en-sure the posted results are correct," cor-rect," she said. This year's posting date was 8 a.m,. March 31. As a service to hunters, once results were available the Division Divi-sion wanted to make them available avail-able the most convenient way possible at hunter's homes. "Mailing the results to hunters is our way of letting them know what's going on with their application appli-cation and what its status is in Tutorow said. "It's a customer friendly, productive pro-ductive way to handle draws," she said. Mailing results and a list of permits remaining after the draw allows unsuccessful hunters a few extra days to decide if they want to apply for the remaining permits, per-mits, or a few extra days to begin planning which general deer hunt region they wish to hunt, Tutorow said. Mailing results to successful hunters allows them to receive their Wildlife Habitat Authorization Authoriza-tion number a few days early, should they need it to purchase a combination, fishing or small game license, she said. Successful hunters are also allowed al-lowed a few extra days to savor, the excitement of having drawn , out," Tutorow said of a side bene- . lit of receiving results early. In every case, hunters are saved from having to take time out of their work schedule to travel to an area where draw results re-sults are posted, having to spend time on the phone to learn the results, or having to access the Internet, Tutorow said. For hunters who are not aware of their results they will be available, avail-able, beginning March 31, the following ways: Results will be posted at Division Di-vision offices in Ogden, Salt Lake City, Springville, Vernal, Price and Cedar City, and at the Lee Kay Center for Hunter Education, 6000 W. 2100 S. in 'Salt Lake City, and the Cacne Valley Hunter Education Center, 2851 W. Valley View Hwy. in Logan. Hunters may call Hunt Application Ap-plication Office at 1-800-221-0659. Hunters may begin calling the office at 9 a.m. Located in the Pacific time zone, the office will open one hour after draw results are posted in Utah. Hunters may access the Division's Di-vision's Internet website, where results will be posted at the Division's Divi-sion's home page address. The Division's home page address is: http:www.nr.state.ut.usdwr Ihomeypg.htm In addition to assuring all hunters know the results of the draw, there's an additional benefit to posting them. "It's kind of a neat adrenaline rush to see your name posted on a draw result list," Tutorow said. |
