Show rive Panguitch Students Chosen To Attend Girls And Boys State PANGUITCH The Panguitch Pan-guitch American Legion and Auxiliary, Auxil-iary, Post and Unit 25 have announced an-nounced the names of this year's high school juniors who will attend Girls State and Boys State. The week-long activities include learning about and participating in mock state and local government procedures. As part of the training, students will file for and elect their own city, county, and state government gov-ernment officials, function with their own legislature, create their own bills and make and enforce their own laws. Many local delegates to past Boys State and Girls State sessions have been elected to various offices to help operate the mock governments. govern-ments. Also, they have gone on to be active and knowledgeable in government and politics in their local area. The annual event is sponsored by the American Legion and Auxiliary Auxil-iary to inculcate a sense of individual individ-ual responsibility and obligation to their community, state and nation. The soon-to-be seniors will bring back what they learn to share with their community and classmates throughout their final year at Panguitch Pan-guitch High School. Those chosen to attend Girls State at Southern Utah University on June 7-12 were Cortney Coff-man, Coff-man, daughter of Michelle Schow; Michelle Morgan, daughter of Dempsey and Patty Morgan; and Sara Ann Marker, daughter of Peggy Marker, all of Panguitch. Also chosen was Ashli Eldridge, daughter of Kevin and Annie Eldridge of Hatch. Garrett McCullough, son of Robert and Jill McCullough of Panguitch, was chosen to attend Boys State at Weber State University Univer-sity in Ogden on June 7-11. |
