Show Pcngoitch Ifavi By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 A huge flock of tiny yellow and gray birds flew into town. There are a lot of new bird houses in folks yards but they seem to be more a form of art rather than for the use of the birds for homes. Sadley, they are too near the ground for birds to be safe in them. Clarence and Hazel Cameron are home from the winter in the south. They are planning to celebrate their 60th. wedding anniversary this year. Hazel said that they were married in January but they think that summer will be a good time for them to come home for the occasion. Monte and Cleo Marshall made it 'home from winter in Phoenix, Ariz., in time to attend the wedding of granddaughter Megan Erickson in the Manti LDS Temple. Megan is the daughter of Marilyn and Barry Erickson, formerly of Panguitch and now living in Richfield. Megan Me-gan married . Michal Birk of Springville. The Marshalls also attended the wedding of grandson Monte Marshall, the son of Dan and RoLana Marshall of Riverton. He and Jill Johnson were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Along with the weddings, the graduations of Monte and Jill Marshall, Mar-shall, cousin Tim Marshall and Anne Marshall's husband, Shaine Anderson, from Southern Utah University, can be added to the family fam-ily celebration. Many of their friends and relatives were there to wish them well. The 5 th grade students took a field trip to Mammoth Cave on Mammoth Creek. Visiting in the 2nd LDS Ward were Ken and Judi Tebbs Roe and some of their family from the north. Cal and Louella Adams lost a brother and a sister of Lou's before they returned home from the Dixie area for the summer. Our love goes to the family of Shawn Taylor at her death this past week. Students and townfolk alike loved her and sorrowed at her early passing. Alan Talbot visited here with mom Mamie and Barbara Talbot. He was here for Forest Service meetings concerned with the paving of the Mammoth Creek road. The paving will make traveling through that beautiful country more enjoy- able. Our local LDS elders Heath Hatch in Texas and Elder Trever Frandsen in Florida are ' working hard in their southern missions and enjoying it greatly. In the 1st LDS Ward, Nathan Houston, son of John and Diane Houston, was ordained a Priest by his father. The little daughter of Jamie and Monica Veater was blessed by her father and many grandfathers, uncles and cousins. Jessica Mangum was baptized by her father Monte Mangum. Sustained Sus-tained in the 1st Ward are Shawn Parkin, Sunday School teacher; Bonnie Parkin and LyNese Miller, primary workers. Elder Mark Munson returned and gave his mission report in the 4th LDS Ward. Sister Patricia Howard returned and reported her Washington Washing-ton D.C. mission in 1st Ward. Verda Oldham and Cecil Dawn Porter went to Layton to the Swiss mission report of their brother and sister-in-law Sherril and Vi Houston Hous-ton and visited their brothers Blaine Houston and Art Houston. Congratulations to Panguitch native and Tropic columnist Louise Heywood Ott on her LDS mission call to Spokane, Wash. Elder Rhett Olson, son of Ken and Melanie McEwen Olson, had his mission testimonial in St. George. Grandmother there is Irene McEwen. To celebrate his graduation from Brigham Young University, Derek and Emily Houston and children, Tori and Logan, vacationed in southern Utah. They visited Zion National Park, brother Michael and Hannah and new son Christofer in St. George, and grandmother Dorothy Do-rothy Houston here. Kate Church fell and broke her hip while visiting in Nephi. Wini-gene Wini-gene Eyre took her to the Payson hospital. Kathleen Church and Val Church took turns being with her. Drake Beau Burningham was born May 9 at Valley View Medical Center to Jonnie Burningham and Beau Davis. He weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and measured 21 12 inches. Grandparents here are Rick and Sherrie Burningham and Phil Davis, all of Panguitch and Kathy Davis from Idaho. On May 12, Dace Jade Miller was born to Jason and Jennifer Miller at Dixie Regional Medical Center. He weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz. and measured 20 12 inches. Grandparents are Mel and Marlene Miller, Panguitch and Evan and Carolyn Chynoweth, Kanab. It's time to get the quilts out and ready to show at the quilt walk. Please take them to the High School on June 9. There, they will be hung for the show on June 1 1 and 12. Spring moving is still going on. Cal and Marjorie Davies are home from their winter in the south. The Jerna Mitchell family is moving to Cedar City. She works for the Utah Human Services. Art and Arlene Hatch are here for the summer in their cabin at Red Point on the Mammoth Creek. Our latest human baby hatch-lings hatch-lings are: the Ryans Hatches have a baby boy. Grandparents are the Tom Hatches. Greats are the Howard How-ard Hatches and Rea Dodds. Jamie and Monica Veater have a baby girl. Happy grandparents and great-grandparents are Wally and Tammy Veater, Dean and Virginia Englestead, Craig and Marsha Rowley of Parowan, the Dick Ex-cells, Ex-cells, LaRue Thornton and Hilma Excell. Markay and Heather Englestead have a baby boy, with grandparents Kay and Corinne Englestead, the Excells and Kay and Caryl Englestead. Native Jimmy Richards and family were here for the blessing of little Kaden Wayne Richards, son of Ray and Julie Ross Richards. He was blessed by grandfather Wayne Ross. Members of the LDS 2nd ward .Misty Grey, daughter of the Dale Greys, and Karli Owens, daughter of the Gary Owenses were baptized last week. Troy Norris was sustained sus-tained Sunday School president. Speakers in 2nd LDS Ward meeting were returned missionaries sister Patricia Howard and Elder John Englestead. A violin selection was played by Barbara Orton, Karran Harris, Lisa Williams, Barbara Hea-ton, Hea-ton, with accompanist Pan Yardley. The fathers and sons outings of the several LDS wards were held at the Panguitch Lake area. Hyrum Elmer's new double wide house is on it's foundation on Pigweed Hill. Speakers at, 3rd LDS ward conference con-ference ware bishop Del Hulet and the Stake presidency. Natalie Larson and children visited vis-ited with her mother Marie Liston for a week. Sister Aleen Henrie, daughter of the Allen Henries returned from her Kentucky Louisville mission. Josh and Mandy Houston Soper had all their grandparents together at their wedding: Jack and Marlene Soper, Jim and Sybil Taylor, Hazel Worthen Houston, Esther and Miles Barney. Nancy Houston's brothers and sisters were here. Hazel's brothers Allen Jo and Dick and their wives were here also. Val Henrie, son of Lowell and Alice Henrie, came from Gunnison to visit and to help his folks with home chores for the weekend. LyNese Miller and daughter Mazie went to Richfield to visit a school friend and Lynese attended state school lunch meetings in Provo. Cindy Moore Bangerter and daughter came to see her parents Kirk and LaVenda Moore. Earl and Evalyn Roe were rear-ended rear-ended in a car accident. Earl ended up with whiplash and a good bit of damage to his car. Elizabeth Foy has been visiting out of town during the last month. Vaughn and Lenore Heaton and daughter Jeri Lu Houston returned from spending market week in Atlanta, At-lanta, Ga. A neat stucco coating is being put on the front of the Social Hall. The Jay Proctors, Clark Frand-sens Frand-sens and mom Allie Frandsen made a trip up north. Gwen K. had business busi-ness meetings in Salt Lake City while the rest of the group visited with Steven Frandsen at Alpine. Then, the Proctors visited Arlyn Proctor and family in Centerville and Allis visited her relatives in the Salt Lake City and Magna area. Troy and Cauleen Pollock and son Kaz have moved back to Panguitch Pan-guitch and are fixing up their parents' par-ents' trailer to move onto a trailer park to live in. Alta Orton's brother, the Vernon Ver-non Johnsons, came from Ely, Nev., and visited with her. Funeral services and burial for Elsa Excell Talbot, wife of the late Oric Talbot were held here May 27. Graveside services were held May 27 here for Dueul Chidester, wife of D. L. Chidester. |
