Show Bryce Canyon News Kathy Lee Supt. Bob Reynolds will be an instructor at a training seminar being be-ing offered by the National Park Service at Buffalo National River in Dogpatch, Ark., for new superintendents. superin-tendents. He will be presenting a session entitiled "The Superinten-dency". Superinten-dency". Rodd Whcaton, Chief of the Division Di-vision of Cultural Resources in the Rocky Mountain Regional Office of the National Park Service visited Bryce Canyon National Park on Nov. 7 and 8. The purpose of his trip was to meet with park staff and to review the progress of the Bryce Canyon Lodge Restoration Project. ' Bill Miles, concessions management man-agement specialist, will be attending attend-ing a training course in Denver called Contract Franchise Fee Negotiating Training. Nate Inouye returned to Bryce Canyon National Park for a brief visit after six weeks at Yellowstone National Park on the park's rehabilitation project. Nate has worked with the National Park Service Ser-vice at Bryce Canyon National Park for the past two years and previously previ-ously worked for the National Forest For-est Service on trail crews. During the summer, Nate was crew chief on one of the many wild fires. He received a special achievement award for his exemplary handling of the duties and responsibilities pertaining per-taining to the back-country program at Bryce Canyon during the past summer. Nate is now studying resource re-source management at the University Univer-sity of Colorado in Denver. Carolyn Barker has been named the Park Training Coordinator at Bryce Canyon National Park. The Roads and Trails staff of the Maintenance Division viewed the Yellowstone Fires video and the Drugs in the Workplace video during dur-ing the past two weeks. The Park Equal Opportunity Committee will be presented a video on Tuesday at Dixie College showing the opportunities for employment em-ployment available at Bryce Canyon National Park. The video highlights job opportunities in law enforcement, fee collection, interpretation, inter-pretation, maintenance, and administration. admin-istration. Senior member of the House Appropriations Committee Kathy Johnson visited the Dixie National Forest last week to review National Forest Service timber sales. She was escorted by Hugh Thompson, Dixie Forest Supervisor and Jim Madsen, vice president of Kaibab Industry of Panguitch and director of the National Parks and Conservation Association. As part of her trip, Ms. Johnson spent several sev-eral hours touring Bryce Canyon National Park. Congratulations to Scott Reynolds on being selected as the manager of the basketball team at Bryce Valley High School. Scott, a sophomore at Bryce Valley, is the son of Superintendent and Mrs. Bob Reynolds. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lee were elected to chair this year's adult Christmas party at Bryce Canyon National Park. The Kelly Shake-spears Shake-spears will host the Bryce Canyon children's Christmas Party. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Anderson, Springbrook, Wis., visited the Michael Lees on Nov. 3-4. The Andersons met the Lees during work at Black Canyon of the Gun-nisons Gun-nisons National Monument in Colorado. |
