Show Escalante News - Vernon Spencer This quiet little town has lots of comings and goings. Doyle Cottam and Vermon Spencer instructed the elementary school students about the horrors of war. Vernon wore his dad's WWI uniform, carried a Springfield rifle and visited the business district, all in keeping with Veterans Day. Mr. and Mrs. Lane Liston had Mr. and Mrs. Gary Lane Liston come to see them, using an aircraft to bring them from Arizona. While here they were in on the blessing of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Meisenbach's baby of Orange, Calif. On their way to Pleasant Grove fro the blessing of a granddaughter, the Hal Shurtzes dropped Laura Baker in Provo for eye exam, then Hal went to St. George for the same reason. Verda Griffin has gone to visit her twin sister Verna Partridge. The Stan Listons spent a night on the town in Cedar City, along with George Peternel and Mike Mclnelly. The barbecue dinner at the Iron Mission celebrate 137 years of Cedar City's existence. The Claron Griffins and the Lynn Gateses have gone south; they voted before leaving. Three residents, ages 90 and over, also went to the polls, Mina Porter, Lenoara Griffin and Isabell Spencer. Arlis Brooks made a trip to Colorado to check on his cattle. The Kent Robinsons went to Idaho for a family dinner and purchased pur-chased a load of cattle. Marlene Haws took her parents Mr. and Mrs. Starns Mecham to Arizona to visit with the Quinn Roundys and Ricky Haws. Doug Austin and Cal Porter flew to Salt Lake City on Doug's plane for the National Scout Jamboree. Jam-boree. Scott Pollock took mother Ethel to Kearns. Guy Lemming went with Zella Alvey to visit Iris Porter at the care center in Parowan. Michelle Marsh took her state board beauticians exam in St George. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Poteet had a daughter born to them making the Donald Griffins and Greg Poteets grandparents and the Yardon Woolseys great-grandparents. The fire department burned the old Aden Woolsey home. The Escalante LDS Stake roadshows road-shows carried a theme of "Once Upon a Nursery Rhyme" for a very entertaining evening. |
