Show Plans Underway for )Fair on August 8. 9 In her fifth year as chairman of the Garfield County Fair, Marie Liston says she believes this year's fair, set for August 8-9, is going to be "the best of all." the fair is expected to include people from all over Garfield County and will provide participants an opportunity to display their very best skills in competition. While the Saturday portion of the fair will be held completely in Panguitch, Friday's events will range from Panguitch to Bryce ) Valley. The events will include 1 p.m. opening ceremonies at the elementary school, with exhibits there being available for public view from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. A Farm Bureau Cookout King Contest will be judged at the fairgrounds at 6 p.m. Entrants will be restricted to dutch oven cooking. At 8 p.m. an Emergency Medical Technician rodeo will take place at Ruby's Inn followed by a dance at 9:30 p.m. at Bryce Valley High School. Saturday's events will start off with a iivestocK judging contest at the fairgrounds. A 10 a.m. parade will follow on Main Street. Judging of livestock will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the fairgrounds. At 11 a.m. all fair exhibits will be opened to the public. The midway will also open at that time providing said Liston, "fun for everyone." A pet show is set for the elementary school at 1:30 p.m. Entertainment, featuring talent from all over Garfield County, will begin at Panguitch Elementary from 2 until 4 p.m., followed by a 4-H fashion show at 4 p.m. A barbecue dinner is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the city park with prices at $2 per person or $10 per family. At 6:30 p.m. a Farm Bureau Talent Show will be offered at the elementary school. Liston said a mini-health fair will be held August 9 for free checking of blood pressure and a blood sugar test.
