Show Panguitch Man Named District Scout Leader Norman McKee, Panguitch has been selected by the Utah National Parks Council, headquartered in Provo, as the district chairman of the Panguitch Scout District. He replaces William Blackwell, Marysvale, who has served as chairman the past eight years. As district chairman, McKee will be responsible for the scout activities of all cubs, scouts, varsity scouts and explorers in the area served by the Panguitch district. Approximately 335 boys and 85 adult leaders in Piute County and western Garfield County are registered in the district. One of McKee's first leadership opportunities in scouting was as a troop leader at the 1957 National Scout Jamboree held at Gettysburg, Penn. Since that time he has served as a junior assistant scoutmaster, scoutmaster, venturer leader, ex plorer advisor, merit badge counselor, and district scout program chairman. He has been serving as varsity scout coach in the Panguitch First Ward the past year. In addition, McKee has assited many eagle scouts in the arenas project advisor, Wood badge trained, McKee has been instrumental in the basic scout training if many of the scttuters in the Panguitch district. In April 1983, he as honored by the Utah National Parks Council with the Silver Norman McKee Beaver Award. He Is the father of five children and has been employed by the state ' of Utah as a wildlife conservation officer since 1968. In 1975, he was chosen as the Conservation Officer of The Year by the Division of Wildlife Resources. |
