Show NPS Veteran Named Bryce Chief Aid BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK Bryce Canyon National Park Superintendent Sandra Key announced the selection of Tom Henry as the park's new management assistant. Henry has been promoted from his former position as chief ranger, a position he held since 1977. In selecting Henry, Key cited his experience in concession management and his familiarity with the Bryce Canyon area's outstanding qualifications. She emphasized the important role he will have as her chief assistant, explaining that he will have direct responsibility for concession management and coordination with the local tourism industry. Supt. Key cited the two elements as the primary focus during her tenure at BCNP. Henry, 43, was born and reared in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He received a bachelor of science in biology at the Unviersity of Wisconsin. During his college study and for a year after his graduation, he was 'employed with the Milwaukee Road Railroad. He spent his first three years with the National Park Service at Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi. His next assignment at Fort Matanzes National Park, Florida Tom Henry wa3 also for a period of three years. His next position was for a four-year term at the Great Smokey National Park in Tennessee. Prior to coming to BCNP, he served at the Herbert Hoover National Historical Situ in Iowa. Their eldest daughter, Kristine, a psychology-biology major at the University of Utah is an honor student with a straight "A" average. Julie, the middle daughter, is married and living in Escalante, the mother of nine-month-old Justin. Daughter number three Katherine, is a first year student at Brigham Young University and Charles, their only son, is a junior at Bryce Valley High School in Tropic. Henry said he feels that his new position will help him develop additional management skills that will help in future assignments. He said he and his family are happy here and have particularly enjoyed Bryce Canyon. |
