Show f Snow Melting jjCedar Breaks Is Now Open CEDAR BREAKS Those who mve wondered if Cedar Breaks vould ever see summer this year 'should make a trip to the National Monument to see for themselves says Supt. Clay Alderson. The road is open, most overlooks are clear and the visitors center is open, he said. The snow is melting fast and bare meadow is showing with a promise of wildflowers to come. He advises that extra care be taken when driving on monument roads because the road is narrow and snowbanks can obscure vision. Speed limits are lower than on similar roads outside the monument since pedestrians and wildlife on the road may be frequent. The visitors center is open daily from 8 a.m. until S p.m. The Campground is still closed and the amphitheater and trail still snow covered so Naturalist programs have not yet started, Alderson pointed out. The staff at the park will be on duty in the visitor center to answer questions and provide snowshoes for a stroll across the snow. Conditions are changing on a daily basis, however, and the snow won't be around too much longer. |
