Show Fire Season In Effect In Garfield John Trout, new Garfield County fire warden reminds residents that the county is a "closed" fire area and that fire permits are required to build open fires. Fire permits are free and may be obtained from the Forest Service for use on National Forests or from the state for use on state lands, whichever is applicable. He said residents should not be misled by recent moist conditions which only lead to faster and heavier growth of ground covers which will be much more prone to fire. Fire permits may be obtained from Trout at 676-2402, days or 676-2689 evenings, or by contacting the Garfield County office. The same telephone numbers may also be used to report fires. .Anyone needing a fire permit may also contact Trout at his place of business at 445 East Center in Panguitch. |
