Show Discipline Specialist Sets Escalante Address ESCALANTE Doug Bates, discipline specialist who serves as a special advisor to the Utah State Office of Education will be the principal speaker at the monthly meeting of the Escalante Commuhity Council. Carol Simons, community facilitator, said that the meeting is set for Marui 17 at the Escalante High School home economics room at 7 p.m. Bates, an attorney, is a former teacher and policeman, whose experience and training has equipped him well for his assignment with the Utah .State Office of Education. Following his presentation will be a question-and-answer period. His subject, Discipline, is expected to be of timely interest to parents and teachers in the Escalante area. The Escalante Community Council was developed to serve in an advisory capacity to the elected Town Board. Its main areas of concern are community, industrial and school development. The Council's Executive Board consists of Wayne Banks, president; Phil Bayles, vice president; Louise Liston, secretary -treasurer; Hazel Sanborn, community development chairman; Lee Williams, industrial development chairman; and Myron Cottam, schools chairman. In addition, each organization has a representative who attends monthly meetings of the Community Council which are held each third Wednesday of the month at the high school library, The Executive Board will meet at 7 p.m. and the general meeting will be held at 8 p.m. |
