Show Scouters Receive Awards Program HENRIEVILLE -Scouting's annual awards banquet was held recently in Henrieville with approximately 35 district scouters present. Carol (Mrs. Quay) Simons, Escalante, received the Powell Point District's highest award, the District Award of Merit for her two years of service as District Cub Scout Chairman. Mrs. Simons is one of the district's busiest scouters and an addition to holding monthly Round Table meetings for all cub scout workers, directs all cub scout activities in the district. The Powell Point district consists of the towns of , BouSder, Escalante, Henrieville, Cannonville, and Tropic, and is a part of the Utah National Parks Council which takes in all scouting in Utah south of Provo. The district's Second-Miler Award went to yuinn Griffin and the Leadership Training Award to Quay Simons. Principal speaker for the evening was William Pratt, vice president of the Utah National Parks Council and a regional representative for the LDS Church. Pratt, a recipient of Scouting's Silver Beaver Award, Richfield, spoke about "Enthusiasm in Your Scouting Job." Also present was scouting professional, scout executive, Jack Dillon. Guests enjoyed a pot-luck dinner and a film, "Scouting in the Utah National Parks Council", story relating how an inactive scout became involved through hiking, camping and other typical scouting activities. Powell Point District chairman is Kay Mangum; exploring chairman, Jim Clarke, varsity chairman, Franz Shakespear; and scouting chairman. Ouinn Griffin.
