Show National Parks Service Seeking Comments Public comment is being sought by the National Park Service' regarding general management planning for Cedar Breaks National Monument. Written comment will be accepted until April 1, 1982 for consideration in preparation of an Environmental Assessment for long-range planning at the Monument. Cedar Breaks National Monument, near Cedar City, comprises more than 6,100 acres and attracts about 400,000 visitors annually. An Environmental Assessment is instrumental in the formulation of a park's General Management Plan, its overall planning guidelines. The assessment identifies and evaluates significant issues associated with management and public use of the area. Items of concern already identified for evaluation in the Environmental Assessment for Cedar Breaks National Monument include use planning, resource protection, access, visitor services and facility development. Consideration will also be made for significant items of concern submitted by the public. The enviornmental assessment will address the development and level of use that can be provided at Cedar Breaks National Monument as well as protection of the Monument's resources from over-use, natural deterioration and vandalism. The document will also discuss what improvements are needed for access to and through the park. Visitor service and facility needs will also be presented in the assessment.
