Show Garfield Fair Still Set For Panguitch Garfield County Fair Chairman Marie Liston said this week that she wanted to "clarify that the Garfield County Fair will be held in Panguitch this year as in years past, despite rumors it will be held elsewhere." Consideration had been given earlier to holding this year's fair in the Bryce Canyon area but fair board members decided to postpone any change of locale to at least next year to permit more time for planning and modification of facilities. This year's fair plans for Panguitch are well underway but Mrs. Liston stated that many openings still exist for local organizations to earn funds for their treasury by participating. Carnival-type games are needed and some openings for food concessions are available also. Representatives for interested groups may contact Carma Sawyer at 745-4276 in Hatch to sign up. The mid-way activities are planned to add entertainment and enjoyment for this year's fairgoers and to broaden the scope of fair attractions. Local businessmen and industries will have an opportunity to participate in commercial exhibits, advertising their products and services. They should contact Rick Lutes, Gladys Lyman or Howard Prince. Mrs. Liston emphasized the importance of getting personal exhibits ready for the fair which is expected to be the largest and most successful in several years, with residents county-wide participating. Next meeting for fair board members is set for July 28 at 7:30 pm. at Bryce Valley High School in Tropic. In charge of entertainment for the fair are Pat Lutes and Charlie Allen, i exhibit chairmen are Afton Church, Harry Partner, David Evans, Vicki Coleman, Sue Mosier and Idonna j Deuel.
