Show Escalante Chit Chat Fay Alvey The weather cooperated beautifully for the Easter weekend and most folks took to the wide open spaces. Chester Lay was rushed by ambulance to Panguitch then on to Salt Lake City to the University hospital. The last report he was holding his own, Claron Griffin goes this week for surgery for the same ailment Mait Spencer had. Mait is home looking well. Minnie Davis has a great-grandson born to Michele and Danny Perkins of Panguitch. Missed reporting last week the Five County Aging Advisory council meeting held here for the first time. There were 31 in attendance and some of them had never been here before so had no Idea how far we have to travel to attend similar meetings. Morris and Neta Shirts got word that granddaughter Carman Cooper had been selected in competition in Texas State finals for the 1979 Teenagers Pageant to be held June 16 in Dallas. The Shirts family was notified of the death of Elwood B. Allred who was the first Seminary teacher in Escalante. He was In his 80s and living In Burley, Ida. Ivan and Nelda Willis went to Beaver to the Lynn Mclnelly home where all of their family met. Elwood and part of his family came here for the weekend and helped Blaine move his trailer house on the setting previously used by the Lynn Mclnelly family. Dick Lyman spent several days here and he and family cleaned their lot across from the Post Office. Robert Barker visited his mother, Dicey' Coombs. Erma Gates had son Kay, and family here from Vernal. The Melvin Alveys had Mr. and Mrs. Omar Reid, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hartley of Springville during the week and the Rick Pruitts of Richfield and the Neuman Duncans of Cedar City. Hode Alvey had the Earl Cooffmans of Springville. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd L. Morgan of Paradise visited at the Hank Bolton home. The Vernon Spencers had daughter Camllle and EdShakrawarhome |
