Show Telephone Bomb Threat Evacuates High School Local parents expressed contempt for an individual who disrupted classes Monday afternoon at Panguitch High School with a bomb threat which proved to be a hoax. Answering the school office phone at approximately 1:35 p.m., secretary Alta Yardley was informed by an unidentified caller that a bomb was set to explode at 3:30 p.m. in the high school. Upon being notified of the phone threat, school officials immediately called in local police. After asessing the situation, Sheriff Keith Fackrell, Don Kidder and John Niemann recom-i mended, as a safety precaution, the evacuation of the school premises. jjj Students were told that school would I be dismissed at 3:00 p.m. No reasons I were given. They were asked to leave the school grounds and go directly home. . Teachers reported to the school office and after instructions from law enforcement officers returned shortly to their individual classrooms and conducted searches. The facility was completely evacuated by 3:20 p.m. with no one allowed back into the buildings until 5:00 p.m. At that time, officers conducted a follow-up Investigation. |
