Show Club Officers Elected at Meet Gathering for the annual election of Panguitch Lions Gub officers were approximately 20 "rollicking, roaring, ravenous" members of that organization here on Monday evening. Following several run-off ballots, Monte Marshall announced the new 1979 officers as follows: Herb Allen, first vice-president; Glen Tingey, second vice-president; Lee Smith, secretary; John Trout, tall twister; Wallace Miller, lion tamer and Clair Baldwin and Dave Clark as two year directors. Reporting on the status of the city race track, chairman Glen Tingey stated that he had coordinated both city and county assistance in preparing the track for upcoming July 13 and 14 races. Panguitch Lions work to maintain the race track and Tingey noted that Garfield county would be donating the sand for resurfacing this season. Dave Clark addressed members present calling for their "full" support in next week's Lions sponsored White Cane-Candy Days, which will run throughout the week of April 22-28. Panguitch City will be divided by blocks and each Lion will canvas door to door to solicite help in this very worthwhile campaign. Lions had invited Clara Christensen, home energy advisor for Utah Power & Light to be guest speaker for the evenings program. Christensen began her presentation with a mini-quiz afmed to show members which household appliances or "energy users" drained the largest portion of the American dollar. Christensen went on to explain possible ways consumers might "conserve" to cut down on already high energy usage. Many important facts were carried home from her presentation. |
