Show Letters To The Editor Get It Fixed Editor, During the past few weeks while traveling the county road between Notora Ranch and the Henry Mountain area of Garfield County, we encountered several places along that road which were so dangerous we feared to continue across. This road is used extenstlvely the year around by ranchers, livestockmen, tourists and others with Interests in that area. Yet the people whose responsibility it is to maintain this road have apparently neglected to take care of the basic needs. We realise this only a dirt road. However, It is a roadway and the only way to get to those ranches from the north. Since' the economy of Garfield County In particular and southern Utah In general depends to a great extent on the livestock Industry it would seem the county commissioners would make the effort to grade the road and make It less hazardous. As it is now, there are spots which are so bad it borders on being a genuine hazard to cross. I hope the commission will take action on this matter and make sure this road is passable without being dangerous to normal driving. It was quite noticable that the first portion of the road after leaving I'Uh Highway 24 near Notom Rancn, in Wayne County, was graded and left the road in fair condition. We fed that Garfield County can take a lesson from Wayne County and maintain their portion of the road as well as Wayne County is doing. Name Withheld |
