Show Title I Program Gets Review by State Staff Garfield County Schools were visited by members of the state school staff, Jay Donaldson and Richard Burbidge. The purpose of their visit was to review the Title I project in the various schools. They gave suggestions to Title I teachers and aides and made sure Title I , State and federal guidelines were being followed. All schools in the school district, except Antimony, have been qualified for Title I services during the 1976-77 school year. Panguitch High School qualified this year on a marginal basis as the Intermediate School was qualified as a Title I school last year. Escalante High School was qualified on the basis of being a Title I school last year. These two high schools are not likely to qualify for Title I funds next year, so consideration will be given to confining Title I to the elementary schools. This years Title I project is designed to Improve the reading skills of students from third grade up to and including the tenth grade. Various programs and materials will be used by Title I teachers and aides who will coordinate student skill needs and progress with regular teachers of reading and language arts. |
