Show Panguitch Patter Grace McAllister 76-23e Commencement exercises were held at the Southern Utah State College In Cedar City on June 6. The following local students received degrees: John Wallace Yardley graduated with high honors in business education. He is the husband of Pamela Riggs Yardley and a son of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Yardley. Mrs. Rcta Hey wood graduated with high honors in elementary education. Her husband, Bruce N. Heywood, is with the Navy aboard the aircraft carrier Coral Seas. Bruce Barney graduated with honors in education. At present he and his wife, Elizabeth Miller Barney are living in St. George. Evelyn Hatch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hatch graduated with honors in sociology. Larry Black, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alden Black received a degree with high honors and a major in Spanish. Cecile Lusty received a degree in communications. She is the daughter of Dr. Carl D. Lusty and Mrs. Alta Lusty. Randy Hatch received a certificate of achievement in electronics. His wife is Debra Duckett, Hatch and parents are Mr. and Mrs: Howard Hatch, Panguitch. ' Eldon Frandsen received a certificate of achievement in agriculture. His wife is Jan Peterson Frandsen and his paretns are Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Frandsen. Hope Truman and daughter, Elaine Riggs, attended the Hulet reunion in Provo Saturday. Jean Orton and boys of Salt Lake City joined them there and assisted with the musical program for the family group. Mrs. J. L. Dickinson and Mrs. Joseph Dickinson went to Wendel, Ida. to visit Jean's folks, the Merlin Looslis. Jay and Joe stayed here to work on Jay's house. Friday the Joseph Dickinsons left for their home in Novi, Mich. Navy Lt. Bruce Heywood, ship's captain of a helicopter with the Naval Aviation Search and Rescue Detachment aboard the Coral Seas Aircraft Carrier took part in the rescue of the Mayaguez from Cambodia. He is now in the Phillipines and will be in San Francisco July 2. His wife, Reta will meet him there and they will make their home in Chula Vista. Ronald Orton of Salt Lake City spent last weekend with Golda Jean's parents, the Boyce Trumans and his grandparents, the Orien Ortons. He did some fishing at the lake and at Otter Creek Reservoir. Visiting at the Don Worthen home is a grandson, Richard Royer and wife, from Kearns. Earlier in the week, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Behmer, friends from Overton, Nev. were here. Mr. and Mrs. George Frandsen, Kearns spent a few days here with their children, the Clark Frandsen and the Dan Frandsen families. Marie Liston, Cleo Marshall, Kate Church and Armeda Farnsworth were released from the North Ward Relief Society presidency. Taking their places are, Mrs. Gwen Frandsen, president., Pamela Yardley, Karen Harris and Armeda Farnsworth. Mrs. Fern Jackman, of Ontario, Calif., spent a week with her neice, Mrs. Idella McEwen. They went to Provo to see Idella's mother and on to Salt lake City to visit an aunt there. Idella took her back to California and spent a few days with her sons in Temple City, Baldwin Park and Huntington Park. Mrs. Maxine Crosby had an early Father's Day dinner for her father, Thomas Richards, in the family home in Tropic June 8. Those in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Warren Sheets, Claremont, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Haas and Elaine, Palmdale, Calif.; Mr and Mrs. Richard Fox and sons, Michael and Gary, Santa Anna, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Nile Richards, Mrs. Paula Richards and Casey, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Richards and children, Lynette, Colette and Will, all Tropic and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Crosby, Layne and Lynn Crosby. Panguitch. Monte and Shirley Swapp spent 10 days with her mother. Rea Dodds. They spent the time Ashing, shingling the house, installing a new water heater and visited Zion's Park. They returned to their home in Bountiful, Friday. The Harold Sevys, Kenneth Sevy and Tiffany Partridge went to Phoenix to visit with the Richard David family. The Barry Davenports have purchased the Carl Yardley home and moved in it. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Dickinson, Mrs. Amelia Woodard and Mrs. Grace McAllister attended graveside services for their cousin, Nellie D. Atkinson, in Richfield, Saturday. Postmistress, Ingra Richards went to Vernal (o the Postmasters Convention from Monday to Thursday last week. Mrs. Wallace McEwen has been a patient in the Panguitch Hospital for the past week. Her son, Dick McEwen, flew here from Las Vegas Monday and took her to a specialist in Las Vegas, Nev. Visiting her the past week were here sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Konchalski and granddaughter. Roni Vandaberg, of San Francisco. Her grandson, Chet Morrison, Las Vegas and Michael Lee and bride, Phoenix were here visiting. Michael L. Henrie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell V. Henrie was one of the students from Utah schools awarded a $420 Honors at Entrance Scholarship to the University of Utah. This scholarship may be continued after the freshman year if the student qualifies. Mrs. Alden Black has just returned from LaFayette, Ind. where she has been welcoming a new granddaughter. The baby is the daughter of Kay Lynn and Theron Roundy. Mr. and Mrs. Al Goodin spent a week in Simi, Calif, with their daughter and family. They took grandson, John Carradini, home and brought back two granddaughters, Debbie and Paulette Carradini, to visit. Granddaughters, Lois Sud-weeks and Gloria Pearson and great-granddaughter Amy Lynne Pearson spent a week with the Rulon Princes at Panguitch Lake. The Lloyd Millets of Kanab visited with the Don Greene's over the weekend. Buck Greene is spending two weeks with his sister, Patti Greene in Laverkin. Mrs. Bell Cooper has had a house full of company this past week with Dr. and Mrs. Charles Duffy of Antioch, Calif.; Grant and Ruth Cooper, Layton; Grant Church and two grandchildren, Delta; and Mr. and Mrs. Rodger Cooper and son, Nathan, of Lubbock, Tex. Trudy and Heidi Miller, children of the Richard Millers of Granger, are here with grandmother, Edra Miller. |
