Show Escalante Chit Chat Fav Alvey S2C-243I The days have warmed up but the nights are cool. We have clouds but no moisture. The locust blossoms and yellow roses have replaced the fading bridal wreath and snow balls. Leo Wilson is in the Panguitch Hospital recovering from injuries received when his truck rolled backwards knocking him down. He already had a black eye caused from bumping heads with a horse. His son, Robert is home keeping things rolling. Shirley Spencer Is still in the hospital. They are trying to get her blood pressure down past the danger point. Verge and Tammy have made several trips to visit her. When Ashby Imlay took his brother Frank to Panguitch for a checkup they kept him in the hospital several days to build his blood up. His son, Francis and family brought him home. Vernon and Hazel Griffin went back to Salt Lake City to give son, Sharon moral support as he was having problems with his lungs. He was improving when they left for home. DeLynn Norman had spent an hour visiting him and it gave them both a lift. Many of our young folks now living in the northern part of the state have visited both boys. Ethyl Griffin went north with Hazel and Vernon. Twila and Millie Mclnelly went north. They took Darwin Barker back home and would stop in American Fork and get Twila's son, A. J. Maralda Porter has gone back to work at the cafe favoring one leg. Eldred Mitchell walked with a crutch for awhile following a fall on the ice which sprained and pulled ligaments in one ankle. The Ice was not here In town, he was Ashing in the higher elevations. Daniel and Orllla Cowles went to Richfield and stayed overnight. Then, son, Newel took them to Oregon and Washington to visit family members. Florence Alvey went to Cedar City and picked up daughters Helen and Lucinda and went to Salt Lake City. Betty R. Alvey and sons, Frank and Tony were also in Salt Lake City. They went for the Miss Utah Pageant. Smith Alvey went for a checkup with his doctor at the Veteran's Hospital. Tom and Hazel Sanborn went to Idaho Falls to visit family members and brought two granddaughters, Trlna and Fona Elison home for a vacation. They visited other relatives In Salt Lake City. Marie Hall had daughter Marllla Jolly and family here from Cedar City. Marie entertained the Special Interest Group last Monday evening with a good attendance. Beth Liston was home for the weekend and took her mother, Evadean, and grandparents, Ray and Lcnora back for Ray's appointment with his doctor. La Rue Spencer had son Vernon, his wife Susan and their three kids here from Salinas, Calif. It is the first visit in three years. Grace Barney had son Mack, Jo and the kids from Cedar City. The Lovell Twitchells had Beth and Rotis Coleman and family here from Richfield. Jane Woolsey had Alice and Don Lee here from Wyoming. Those we heard of having business in Cedar City were the Alveys, Deon, Denise, and Raylene, Jill Haws, Sharon Dale and Shirlee Marsh and family and the Mounteers, Marvin, Louise, Carol and Myrna. The Blake Robinsons had Ben and Renee Porter of Provo. They came to weed their garden. Budd and Aloha and Bret and Debbie Porter were here. Budd stayed to go down the desert and camp to help Delane Griffin gather cattle. The Usher Spencers had Carl and Patsy Cottam and part of their family here from Provo. Warren and Kathleen Woolsey and boys of Cedar City spent the weekend at the Dale Marsh home. The Lorell Munsons have son Daryl and family here from Illinois. He is between school and a job. Maureen Munson is beginning to look like she is among the living. She survived a 30-day survival trip and looked thin and sunbaked. Arnold and Zella Alvey had son, Tom home from his job in Price. They took Idella Imlay to Panguitch to visit Frank. Mark Karren of American Fork came to get his wife Brenda and ten-month-old son who spent some time visiting Brenda's grandparents, Morris and Neta Shirts. There are some proud grandparents and great-grands. The Randal Lymans have a granddaughter born to Rose Mary and Reldon Palmer in Bountiful. The Stanley Haycocks a grandson born to Dawnetta and Ed Dunam of Cannonville. The Frank Imlays and the Daniel Cowles a great-grandson born to Jerry and Louise Imlay of Fillmore. Nell Barker joined me for a trip to Tropic where we picked up Ray Littlefield, Clara Johnson and Marion Shakespear and attended a meeting in Panguitch for the Council" on Aging. Helen Shurtz went to Panguitch for a dental date. The Hyrum Colemans and the Rex Aliens had a visit from Alfred and Ada Heaps and grandkids, Mary and Jimmy from Riverton. Iris Porter had a visit from Duane and Laretta Taylor and three kids from the Salt Lake area. Floyd and Maxine Horrocks of Salt Lake City brought Rol and Mina Porter home. Rol did not get his leg this trip. The Porter home had Marie Griffin and part of her family from Provo, Velma Bourter and daughter, Saundra and family. Edson Alvey went to Dixie and brought Iona home. They reported Arvonne and new daughter doing fine. Bill Neal was home for the weekend. All people who are interested in the Haws reunion, it will be held July Sth at Blue Spruce Campground. People coming home for the 24th of July celebration should be , here ready to swing July 25th, and 26th with the usual events. Lois and Evan Reeves of Las Vegas visited at the Lorenzo Griffin home. Verna and Shannon Partridge of Hurricane and part of their family were visitors at the Beaumont Griffin home. Glover Smith took over the two jobs vacated by Jim MacKelvey. Grant Liston had business in Richfield so took Wilford Liston along to keep him awake. Grant bought a new saddle and wondered why the price was so high when the price of cows is so low. Thais Griffin and girls visited in Panguitch. Relatives here got word that Maud Reynolds is hospitalized in Richfield and having a rough time. In sacrament meeting Sunday the speakers were Randal Lyman, Ivan Willis and Fred Wilson. Erma Gates had word from her sister, Cloma Napalitano in Rhode Island saying Arthur's brother died on Monday, was buried on Wednesday and his mother died Wednesday. Jim and Erma went to Santa Clara and joined Sylvia Graf and daughter for a trip to Las Vegas. Gates and Max Christensen were here visiting relatives and helping Pratt Gates gather cattle. Gates had to leave to attend to his undertaker business but Max stayed on to continue the outdoor life. Curly Hale was home for the weekend and took Ruth back with him. We held a Golden Agers supper and dance Wednesday night with 35 present. We may have to quit the deal, too many people are disinterested. The Fred Wilsons had a couple here from Calif, and they had names which have evaded me. The man brought his saxa phone and joined the local orchestra. The town's oldest man, Wallace Roundy and (lie oldest woman, Sariah Alvey were at the dance After the party Sariah kicked a chair leg with her bare toe and so has joined the lim-pers. Speed was the cause of the accident. |
