Show Tropic Topics Ella Adair 171-811 The Owen Shakes pears have received word that their grandson; Johnny Hoggan, was chosen as the outstanding wrestler of the year in Van Alslyne, Tex. Johnny Is the son of their daugher, LaJuanna. While en route to the graduation exercises In St. George last Thursday, the Earl Jolleys were in a car accident In Red Canyon. Although their car was totaled out, the Jolleys and Virginia Smith, a passenger in the car, received minor In-juries. They had planned to attend the graduation exercises for their grandson, Gary Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cox and family visited with the Owen Shakespears the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Allen and family visited at the Mateland Baugh home Thursday and Friday. Ruth Baugh ac companied them to Provo to take their mother up for a medical check-up. The Adrian Pollocks had their daughters, Jolene and Darlene and their families home this past week. The Wallace Otts had their daughters Irene and Sandra from St. George and son Lloyd from Ogden, and their families home for the graduation exercises. Kim and Kathy were among the graduates this year. Clare Ramsay's mother and sister and family spent Thursday with them. Clare returned to Glendale with them for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Will Shakespear visited with the Owen and Harmon Shakespears and James Munsons. Mrs. Lela Gates from Hurricane, visited with the Ray Llttlefields and Arnold S. Adairs over the weekend. Fishing season opened with many visitors in town and not many fish being caught. Jim Thomas made a trip to California during the week. Marie Zoner and daughter spent the weekend with the Norman Littlefields. Their son, Jay and family were also visitors for Memorial Day. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Littlefield spent the weekend at the Ira Littlefield home. A very successful ward dinner was held Friday night for the missionary fund. June Shakespear was in charge of the program and the high priest quorum In charge of the meal. Larry Adair made a business trip to Salt Lake City during the week Mr. and Mrs. Ray Munson visited with the James Munsons over the weekend. Leola Ott accompanied her sister Zenda and husband to Las Vegas this past week. Daryl Shumway and son, Craig visited In Tropic Sunday. The Carl and Val Shakespear families visited over the weekend with the Vernal Shakespears. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Shakespear are visiting with the Obie Shakespears. June Bushnell and family visited with the Paul Mangums. Koye and Stan Mecham made a trip to Ogden Saturday on business. Jane Sudweeks enjoyed a visit from her daughter, Dellis, this week. Layton and Betty Ott and their three girls visited with the Robert Otts and spent the night at their home. The Robert Otts took their daughter. Tammy to Salt Lake City to board the bus for Washington, D.C. They went up to Logan and brought their two grandsons home for a visit. Tammy is representing the state at a special youth conference and as a representative of our county. The Vaughn Johnson family has moved to Tropic for awhile. Tonya Syrett is a patient In the hospital in Cedar City. Ella Bybee is in the Panguitch Hospital this week. Dian Lynn, daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Brinkerhoff, and Michael Douglas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ahlstrom were blessed by their fathers and given their names in sacrament meeting Sunday. Alene Riddle spent Sunday with the Raymond Brinkerhoff family. Bob Hope, comedian and humanitarian was the commencement speaker at the 82nd annual ceremonies at Utah State University. Richard Lester Clar, engineering, was among the 1850 people receiving their bachelor's degree at the ceremony. |
