Show Escalante Chit Chat Fay Alvey 826-2431 The weather is gradually warming up and the flowers are beautiful and fragrant.-We had one nice shower which brightened things up but was accompanied by lightening which damaged the electrical appliances of some folks and the sound effects were loud and nerve shattering, Lynn Liston has been added to the injured list. He broke a bone in his leg in an encounter with a log. Guile Deuel is favoring one leg. He said he was not too steady anyway and stepped In a hole in the road and twisted his ankle. Those holes are so numerous one has to drive like a drunken sailor to miss even part of them. Vernon and Hazel Griffin are home from Salt Lake City and report son, Sharon is holding his own. He had surgery on his liver and is scheduled for head surgery to repair a fractured skull. He will later have plastic surgery on the side of his face where he slid on the oiled road. The Griffins brought three of their Eyre grandchildren home to visit. Quinn Griffin brought his mother, Leah home to recuperate. She is doing fine. Her sister Jackie is also holding her own. As far as we could learn the rest of the sick are improving. We had so many visitors in the area last week dozens were missed. Some were unnoticed and others brought to our attention. The Tom Sanborns had his siter and husband, Christine and Art Button of San Pedro, Calif. Greg Pollock came to get his grandmother, Ethyl and take her north for the funeral services of Dick Barker, age 30 .who is married to Ethyl's, granddaughter, Sandy Kofoed. He has been ill for some time. Ada Porter had Kenny Hamilton and family here for the weekend. Arnold and Deon Alvey had Janeen and Brad Duncan from Salt Lake City and Karen Kelly from Wyoming. The Norm Christensens had daughters, Jo Danklef and Mary Bauser home for the i weekend. I Hal and Geneal Shurtz had all of their family home except Kay Lynn. The Bill Vidrines had daughter, Annette, for the weekend. The Marvin Mounteers had i daughters, Peggy and Marva home. They took them back, i Marva to Salt Lake City and Peggy to Provo. They had dental dates in Cedar City. ' John C. BeGay, his wife and two kids, his parents and his I wife's parents all of Page, Ariz. were in town Saturday. ; Lance Coleman and his mother, Katheryn went to j Cedar City where Lance traded his car for a pickup. The Verge Spencers have a new touring car. Glen Imlay says his pickup is not new, he just washed it. He and Coleen were here again. Their kids Frankie Lou and Craig Evans, and their friends, Ken and Linda Cottrell from Louisville, Texas spent several days here. Jan Liston had relatives here for fishing and visiting, her sister, Freda Tukaufer of j. Magna and Mr. and Mrs. Steven Hint on, Salt Lake City. Mrs. Peggy Buckaluw and daughter, John and Mrs. Grace Christensen. The wind put an end to their fishing. Ann and Charles White had a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stevens of Temple City, Calif. Carolyn Williams and girls of Wayne County visited here with her mother, Grace Barney. She brought Grace Baker to visit her sister, Clarice Griffin. Twila McNelly had granddaughters, Acenith, Pat and Kenna here for the weekend. She and the James Mclnellys had Ora Soper, Delma and Glade Reynolds, Richfield and Jim and Shirley Ramsey, Green River. Mike and Grene Searle and friends, the Larry Listons of Cedar City spent the weekend here. The Bill Griffins had Evan and Nick! Excell and girls from Price. John and Yukon Norman and girls went to Salt Lake City to visit DeLynn who is gradually improving. Dale Marsh also had business in Salt Lake City so Thelma accompanied him. The Arden Taylors had Von and Emma Forsythe of Wayne County here visiting. La Vina Pollock was left alone when Vic Van Oostendorp came for Fay and the two girls and took them to California. For the weekend she had son, Guy, his wife, Vonda and their son, Stanley and family and also Neal. They took a picnic and went to Calf Creek but it was so full they went on to Boulder and had their lunch at the museum. Nell Barker went to Panguitch to meet Paul and Gayla Cardon and accompanied them to take son, Bruce, to join the army in Salt Lake City. Jaleen Vance came from New Mexico and got daughter Kozan Pollock. Wayne is staying here with his grandparents, the Neal Listons. Her trailer house is already moved and she sold her beauty shop to Jolynn Peterson of Boulder who parked it on the LaVern Griffin lot. Linda and Jay Stokes and daughter of Tooele visited at the Smith Alvey home. Linda and daughter stayed for a longer visit. The Ron Schows had son Lynn and family here from Bear Lake, also Kathy and Bill Smith from Nevada. Lewis Griffin and boys of Provo spent the weekend at the Lorenzo Griffin home. Blake and Betty Schow and Ken and Norma Schow visited the Jim Gates home. Mary Ellen and Hyrum Coleman went to Wayne County to visit his father, Parley then to have lunch with her sister, Dolly Mulford but found that Dolly was in Escalante. They cam back home and found not only Dolly but Maud and Herman Spencer and daughter, Phyllis Ann and family. Later Clevia Swindle and grand daughter came from California. Doug and Jeri Mclnelly from Richfield, Valeree and Mike Davies and family joined them. Gary and Marion Mills had several days off so went tc Grand Canyon and came bach this way to visit at the Chase Shurtz home. Dennis and Sara Cowles were also here, so wert Park and Laree Shurtz. Mary Ellen Coleman went tc Panguitch for a checkup and called in Cannonville to take daughter Valeree Davies on tc drive. Clevia Swindle and Irene Brown made arrangements to meet In Prove but missed each other. Vida Harrison of Idahc visited Randal Lyman and Millie Mclnelly. |
