Four of our citizens are in the Panguitch hospital; Bill Vebstcr, William Mitchell and Becky Griffin and Lorln Griffin is still there. Becky fell off the porch damaging her face considerably, they were waiting for X rays to determine how bad. William returned frem a trip and felt so rugged he went over, they thought his trouble was a kidney stone, and Bill went back for the same ailment as before.. Harve Bailey and Bud Gates came from Salt Lake and Harve bought a truck load of cattle, Arthur Mclnelly hauled them North to put in his summer pasture. Harvey Dean Gates has been here with his grandparents, Hyrum.and Emma. Norma Liston and children are home from Las Vegas to spend vacation with Cook. James and Millie Mclnelly were home for the weekend and had Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gardner of Page here showing them the scenic attractions Mary R. Mclnelly had her daughters, Ora Sopcr and Del-ma Mclnelly and Delma's daughter Donna here for the weekend and to celebrate O-ra's birthday. Mary has two more great-grandsons born to Wells Mclnelly of Vernal and Maxine Haney of Calif. Chan Mclnelly is in Las Vegas learning to fly a new plane, he flew over here last week just to buzz hello. Lynn Griffin has gone for six months training in the National Guard, his wife Judy, her sister Myrna Barker, and Ann Griffin accompanied him to Salt Lake. Mary Lee Moosman of Wayne County visited the Arthur Mc-Inellys here, then she and Grena went to Panguitch to stay with Kent and Phyllis. 0 laf Shakespear of Tropic was here closing a deal to buy Dick Lee's trailer house. Tony and Bobbie Van Hemert of L. A., his brother Bill and wife Marty and Bill Jr. of Ojai, Calif, were here on a short visit. Thera and Bill Stevens of Re-ceda, Calif, visited at the John Zenz home enroute to Yellowstone. The Zenz's had son Donnie, his wife and three kids, and a fiicnd Betty Casey and two kids from Reno, Nev. Lorin and Meletta Cottam have a new granddaughter born to Elna and Dennis Creek of Silver Creek, Washington, it is their 7th child .and,,theCottams 27th grand- , child. Eddie Oblad of Short Hills, New Jersey and Annette Shurtz, students at the University of Utah-in Sal Lake City were guests of Annette's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chase Shurtz for several days last week. Ivan and Nelda Willis had Mr. and Mrs. Doug Reed and three children of Midvale, Gam and Ella Willis of Kan-ab, and Ora and Rhoda Shaf-er of Henrieville. Lowell Willis went to Kearns for a vacation. Blaine Willis and Roger Hamilton are in Wyoming working on a bug crew. Lor-ell and Nelda Munson went to Salt Lake and came home with a new car. Bobbie Jack Hamilton and family of Magna spent the weekend with Ada Porter, Paula Hamilton is here spending the summer. George Ha-, milton was home for the weekend and they had their kids from Salt Lake, Ardena and Harold Sucese and two children here. The Reed Wooleys have daughter Marva Jensen and children here, Howard brought them then went back to his job. Hazel Griffin spent several days in Page and the coolers went off, she was glad to get home for a breath of air. Joanna Barker had her sons Elvin and Dee of Salt Lake and Elvin's son Orrin home for the weekend. Rolaine Lyman took her children to Panguitch for dental appointments, her mother Ruth Alvey acompanled her. Arnold and Zella Alvey had son Delray and family here again. Friends and relatives here got word of the death of a former resident, Edie Heaps of Midvale. Lee Porter came from ProYO for a visit but went back for Edie's services. Thoso we heard of going to Panguitch for medical checkups and other business were Vincent Spencer and family; Lois Spencer, Lafonda Mounteer, Eliza Mclnelly, Dot Alvey and Marjle Spencer. Dot and Mar-jie left for Kansas, all thrills and butterflies. Paul Steed gave Dot $25.00, not from the Lions Club but from the Skyline Lumber Co.,we join with Dot in thanking him. The Randal Lymans had Rose Mary and Reldon Palm- (continued Inside) ESCALANTE (continued) cr and family of Salt Lake, also Dick and Mary here for the holiday. Randal took Qwen to Salt Lake where she was to attend a delegated assembly for the school board. Barbra Shurtz went to Salt Lake for the wedding of some of her kin then Carlyle went to bring her home. It keeps the merchants here busy freighting in goods and marking the price up on the ones left over. Lewis Christensen, his wife and two sons, Bill and David came from Provo to visit his mother Bell Roundy and her quite new husband. Lowisand family visited the scene of the horrible truck wreck which took the life of their son Gary. Of course they could pick out several things that could have been done to prevent the accident. They are so broken hearted and suffering from shock but want to thank every one who assisted in any way, they also bring thanks from the other bereaved parents In Provo. Ray L. Alvey and family came from Roy to go out of the cattle business, if we don't get some rain there will be others have to sell. Hazel Mormon had her brother Zeke Morton, his wife and family here from Livermore, Calif, and a brother-in-law Larry Volks and family from Hill-field. Walt and Doris Roth of Florida came to compare rocks with John and Lola Zehz. Herman and Maud Spencer of Salt Lake were visitors at the Hyrum Coleman home. Alvey and Loretta Sherman, their daughter Janet and two grandchildren came from California to . visit Marion and Jane Woolsey, Clema and Hoc Barney came from Page and Clema stayed to help. Rol and Mina Porter had son Haws of Orem during the 4th holiday. Nethella Woolsey took her car to Richfield to have the noise muffled. Quite a number of the Haws relatives went to Calf Creek for the reunion, they elected two presidents, Leland Haws and Lars Peterson, Dee Haws as vice pres , and Idonna Haws secretary. There were 114 present. The Woolsey reunion held at Griffin Springs was a three day affair featuring mutton and weincr roasts. It was the dcsccndcnts of J. B. Woolsey and there were over 100 pre sent, four car loads from Mexico and five from Calif, beside local folks. Dicey Coombs was elected president and was to choose her own help. Ard-en and Ruby Woolsey visited folks here, came to see me to say how they enjoyed the Garfield county news but I was not home so the message was relayed. Lovell and Martha Twitchell had Deann and Scrib Gillis and small daughter of Pangiiitch here Sunday, Lovell had the honor of christening his granddaughter. The son of Sherril D. Mounteer was also christened. The Colemans had a reunion at the Wildcat Ranger station with 65 present, LaFay Coleman. is in charge for next year. The Bill Ashmores have a new daughter and his moth er and stepfather and three boys have been here visiting. Alvin Griffin, his wife and her sister visited here briefly. The monthly 5 county meeting was held here Friday, the Stake Primary served dinner. With faith and optimism we planted lots of seeds, then wonder why the vegetables don't grow as fast as weeds. |
