Show J. G. Haws Named Box Elder Superintedent The Uintah School District Board of Education has accepted the resignation of Superintendent J. C. Haws so that he can accept a new position as school superintendent of the Box Elder School District. Mr. Haws has been superintendent of the Uintah School District for the past five years and prior to that time was principal of the Ashley Valley Junior High School. Supt. Haws has been appointed by the Board of Education of the Box Elder School District to fill the vacancy resulting from their past superintendent Walter D, Talbot being appointed as assistant state superintendent of public instruction. Some 20 persons applied for J. C. Haws the position. Mr. Haws selection for the post came after a series of special board meetings in which a number of applicants were personally in? terviewed. Supt. Haws has spent twenty-three, years as teacher and administrator in the Utah Public Schools. He was teacher in both the Iron County and the Provo City school systems. His academic training was received at the College of Southern Utah and his B.S. and M.S. were obtained at the Brigham Young University. He has always been active in civic and church affairs and for the past five years has been a high councilman In Ashley Stake. He and his wife, the former Eva Spencer, are natives of Escalante, and they have four children. |
