Show r t Panguitch Stake Singing Mothers A Delight To All Local Ladies An Outstanding Hit At Conference A group of Panguitch Stake Relief Society Singing Mothers ' have returned to their homes after spending a busy and en joyable week in Salt Lake City. For the past five months the singers have practiced faithfully, preparing to sing in Relief Society General Conference meeting Wednesday, Sep-, tember 29, and in both sessions of the General Church Conference Friday, Oct. 1, held in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. The complete chorus consisted of approximately four hundred fifty singers from the Virgin River Region and about fifty from Provo and vicinity. Part of the group from the Virgin River Region also presented a Sacred Concert in Ce-, dar City Sept. 8th. The chorus learned the songs - under the direction of their ward and stake organists and choristers.. In practices at Cedar City and Salt Lake they were trained by Dr. Florence Jepperson Madsen, well known teacher, conductor and chorister for the Relief Society General Board. Dr. Madsen also conducted the group In the concert at Cedar City and at conference. All seven wards in the Panguitch Stake were represented by the following women: Antimony: Betty Wiley, Amber Riddle, Coy Burr. Kingston: LaRae Allen. Junction: Vera Anderson, Genlce Barnson, Norma Howes. Circleville: Gean Gottf red-son, Carma Allen, Charlene Dalton. Panguitch South Ward: Faye Worthen, Verda Tebbs, Beth Tebbs, Isabel Ipson, Ireta Hen-rle, Myrtle Riggs, Elizabeth Foy, Marilyn Veater, Florence Parker, Thora Foy, Ncdra Tebbs, Carol Dodds, Fay Ella Prince. Panguitch North Ward: Pearl Henrie, Hilda CbJdester, Cleo Marshall,-Iletta Reid, Ann Franklin. Hatch: Yvonne Wilson, Elaine Riggs, Ruth Wilson, Flor-iene Barney, Dorothy Barney. Sister Madsen requested that statistics be reported regarding the posterity of the women and the! approximate miles per car traveled to practices. The following statistics were submitted from the Panguitch Stake: Children, 158; Grandchildren, 152; great-grandchildren, 29; Missionaries, 21; ap-prox. miles traveled, 13,7000. Each sister has expressed appreciation for the wonderful privilege of participating in this great conference. President David O. McKay was present to preside over the conference and. give the opening .address; to the thousands who filled to capacity and overflowed the Tabernacle. |
